Buying my third pair!
I have Reynaud's Phenomenon, which makes my hands and fingers painfully cold during the winter. I have fingerless gloves for the car, my office, and my home. This style works best for warmth and easy use of a keyboard, other office work, and household "stuff". I have worn them shamelessly at meetings and conferences and had people being frozen in the room say they were going to start keeping some in their bag for the same situation. The new pair will stay in my messenger bag so I don't get caught without some when I need them. I am thinking about adding some colorful embroidery thread to dress them up. Why not?
Better Than Expected.
I will start off by saying that they do run a little big, but other than that these are great gloves for winter. I live on campus and I ride my bike to class, when it is already freezing and the wind chill is unbearable, these keep my hands warm as can be. I did read that they ran a little big, but I just assumed that person had small hands (I have abnormally large hands). I ended up ordering an extra large. If you have large hands go with large. The extra large is more for extra meat on the hands and less on the length of the fingers. Etc. Not too big of a deal, because it gives some breathing room.
Weird Fit
From the picture, these look like the thumb is where it should be (your thumb comes out of the bottom of your hand, not the side) but they are knit the cheap way (flat). Good material but too much elastic in the fingers. I take a large, the fingers fit but the palm was way too baggy. The mediums fit my palms but are so tight in the fingers, they cut off the circulation. I have arthritis in my hands and literally live in fingerless gloves. It's REALLY hard to find decent ones (including LiteSpeed) at any price. These go in the pile with the other "failed experiment" gloves.
Surprisingly warm
I got these for keeping my hands warm but still able to use a keyboard in a chilly home office and wasn't expecting a whole lot. But I've been pleasantly surprised by how warm and comfortable these gloves are and even have started hiking outside with them in late fall weather. It's very convenient to be able to operate zippers, smartwatch, phone, etc. without removing the gloves. I feel like they do run a smidge big but they may shrink with washing. Plus the extra room lets you pull your fingers into the glove if it does get colder. Overall I'm really won over by these and think they are a great value for the price.
Effective
These will insulate your hands decently in 40 deg F weather, 30 deg F if you've got warm pockets to stick them in. You can use your cellphone or tie your shoes with them on, as with all fingerless gloves. They do pill up easily and after some usage a lot of loose threads will appear. I'd not wear these when gripping anything abrasive or something that could catch (firewood, devices with small tightly fitting parts like bicycle chains), the weave is a little loose. As an everyday moderately cold weather glove, these are fine.
Great for cold weather fishing.
I purchased these gloves for cold weather fly fishing. I usually were a size large, but purchased size medium for a more snug fit. They are warm and work well in a damp environment. On really cold days I tuck a hand warmer in the wrist band.
Versatile glove
These gloves have their flaws: they're baggy, the knit pills and picks up/catches on duff and bark, they take a while to dry, they have little wind resistance, they're not the most durable. But for all that, they're very useful gloves. Quite warm in dry/low wind conditions, yet not too hot on a sunny day (I use them as sun gloves too, and appreciate the light color). I wear them under mittens in the winter and they a fit hot hands packet inside. Mine usually last through 2-3 years of hiking and backpacking before they start getting holes.
I Love These Gloves
I love these gloves. They're perfect for photographers who need to be able to use their fingers while outside on a photo shoot. Great for driving as well since they shield your hand from the cold steering wheel. And of course, I use them while camping. I have three pairs: one in my car, in the house, and in my photography bag. They helped me survive the cold upstate NY weather and allow me to keep my heat turned off in TX. I've had mine for 5 years now and they're still going strong!
Good glove for someone else?
Bought them hoping the wool would be softer. I've bought a lot of products from Fox River over the years, this is the first one I have disliked. Returned before using. Were warm right after putting on, but very harsh on the skin. They are very stiff and uncomfortable. True to size. Just not excited about these.
Great Cheap Glove
I am on my second pair of these gloves, not because the old pair wore out but I lost one. For a very cheap price this glove works wonders. It is surprisingly warm, but also can be used in warmer weather as I use them when hiking with an ice ax. One trick to making these all purpose gloves is that remember that your fingers aren't covered, and do most of your gripping with your palm and lower fingers. Saving your exposed fingertips for tasks requiring a more dexterity. Surprisingly windproof, except for the finger tips. They are a bit stiff at first but break in after a bit and feel great. They actually look fairly fashionable if you go for the outdoorsy look and are into that type of thing. Can't complain, just wish the full finger gloves didn't have rubber on the palms. Bottom line is if your a fingerless glove type of person then these are your best friend.
