Great, Compact Kit
I have read that glueless patches are supposedly only temporary, but I have used these many times on 26" tubes for small punctures and they've lasted for the remaining life of the tube. I am very thorough when cleaning, though: I clean, buff, clean again, dry, then apply. The kit weighs essentially nothing and takes up essentially no space; therefore, even if you prefer to carry a vulcanizing kit this is nice to have as another backup. I have yet to use one on my road bike (27" tires at 100 PSI) because I've yet to get a flat on it, so it's possible they might not work permanently with the higher pressure.
Good Tip
A tip I found to help patch stay on. Sand around the puncture very well first. Then inflate the tube almost fully so it is stretched out then quickly press the instant patch over the puncture putting pressure on it for a couple of minutes while the tube is almost fully inflated. This will keep it from popping off if you put it on a deflated tube and then the tube expands under the patch when you inflate. The glue on the temporary patches isn't as strong as the rubber cement type patches and it may break away during inflation. I've used these quick patches as well as other brands and find they are ususally temporary. Easier to use in the dark. Find puncture by inflating then rotating the tube near your mouth and you will feel the air escaping. Once home I replace them with a rubber cement type patch.
Good as a backup patch kit
The Park Glueless Patch Kit is very small and light. I carry it as a backup for my regular patch kit in case my glue dries out or evaporates. The glueless patches get me home, but they don't stick as well as the regular patches. If I try to keep using the patched tube, the glueless patch will develop a slow leak by the 2nd or 3rd ride on it.
Tiny patch kit, always keep on me
I generally keep a spare tube, but always keep this patch kit as back up. It came in handy a few rides ago when I had a flat, checked my tire for before putting in my new spare. Then my new spare immediately blew. Turns out I had a gash in the sidewall portion of my tire, which was making the tube bulge out and fail. I didn't have any more spares, so patched the tube, and then used two patches over the side wall of the tire and it held it in enough to finish the last 20 miles.
Versitile patches
I've use these to patch my inflatable matress, tent floor, ground cloth, rain cover. These will stick to coated nylon if you clean the area first and use a tire adhesive. I put one patch on both sides of the tear or puncture. Nice little emergency patches for many uses,
No mess and work great!
I love these Park Tool tube patches. They are pre glued so there's no messing with that on the side of the road. I've patched many a flat and never had an issue with them not sticking. I won't even consider other patch kits at this point. I just can't stand the gluing process. And I figure if it ain't broke....
Will get you home. May last a while, not forever.
I had the opportunity to use these patches soon after I bought them. Goat head thorns make a deep and large, but round, penetration into tire and tube. The patches were easy to apply and transparent, so you could place them over the hole more easily. They are also thin. The patches held air immediately - no need to wait for glue to dry. The little box they come in is also nice. I found that some of them leak slightly so after a few days, the tire has lost pressure. I calculate it (based on limited data) to be up to 2 PSI per hour. Certainly, you can continue riding at this leakage rate for a long time and if you pump up every time you ride, this is fine. As with all stick-on patches, if the tube becomes totally deflated, the patch will tend to buckle and become partially detached. You may be able to smooth out the patch after putting some air back in, but the leak rate will increase, so you can't do this very often before it's time for a new tube. Overall, however, I would recommend this product.
Awesome little patches
I love these patches. They are small, lightweight, fast and easy to use, and will handle most small punctures. The only time I've had a problem is using them on pinch flats - they don't always seal permanently on larger tears, probably due to their size.
works on tubes and inflatable mattresses
I've used these to repair bike tube flats for about 8 years. They have always held. Most of my flats were punctures on the outer half of the tube. (They probably don't stick as thoroughly if placed across a seam, as some have complained. But as long as they cover the hole and its surroundings, the adhesive will still hold.) I also use them to fix pinhole leaks in my Thermarest Neoair pad. Easy to apply, and so far they have all held!
Worthless
I followed the instructions, but could not get these patches to last more than a couple minutes before the seal blew out. After using up the whole pack one after another, I was left stranded in the middle of mosquito infested woods more than 10 miles from home! When I finally got home I threw out my other packs of this completely worthless product and replaced them with the good old reliable glue-type patches which have NEVER failed on me. Do yourself a favor - do NOT buy these things.
