Yakima SKS Lock Cores
Very easy to install, took just a few minutes! 2 is all you really need, one for each crossbar.
Must buy for lost keys
I lost my keys for my yakima cargo box, so I purchased these, went to a local lock smith, and got everything squared away with my new lock cores and keys (if you're in my situation, lock smith charged me $5 for replacement). I can see how one would want to purchase a higher package of SKS lock cores, but for a simple replacement, and one more key on your key ring, this package is not bad at all.
Broken key
The key broke in the lock in our Yakima roof top carrier. The folks at REI Winter Park spent an hour getting it out and replacing the cores. They did a fabulous job!

Check the keys
While the box states you will receive 2 keys plus a control key, I only receive 1 key. I do not like not having a spare that I can keep at home. Please make sure you open the box before you leave the store.
Easy Install and secure
Easy to install and use. Took 5 minutes, ready to go.
Worked as expected
Cores were a cinch to install and use. Product I'm using them on (Yakima Big Stack) is plastic, and does not feel durable or strong, and the cores lock the "plastic" screw knob into place. Feels like a simple firm twist with a large set of pliers would snap the plastic groove loose from the cores (when locking, have to "fine-turn" a little, and in the process, can feel that it's not the most strong engagement), but the cores themselves seem solid and fine.
Easily pickable locks
Good for detering super lazy thiefs. Otherwise, any amatuer could figure out how to pick these locks.
Be aware
Installed locks on front loader racks and the key won't turn to engage the locking mechanism. Followed instructions, reinstalled and the same condition. You can install the locks in the locked position but then you have to use the install/uninstall key to move or take down the racks. The racks themselves are outstanding.

These locks make the whole Yakima system very easy to use. They are very easy to install and the locks are good quality so the keys work well in them.
