I have used the Moab Speed 2 on 3 fishing outings. The last outing was fishing from shore, where I was standing, moving, walking on cements for 10 hours. Also, there was a light rain most of the time. The shoe performed very well in comfort, gripping on wet surfaces, and my feet did stay dry. I am not sure how well the shoe will perform in heavy down poors, but will be testing them when I can. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.
These boots are sick. They fit true to size, look good, provide good traction, are durable enough and the water proofing holds up way better than what I was expecting. Feels like walking on a cloud compared to my old boots after break in. I'd recommend replacing the stock insoles with something else but that's just me.
I caught these boots on sale in the Spring. We had a two week trip to Ireland and Scotland planned and the weather can be unpredictable. The Gore Tex waterproofing and lugged sole looked promising. Added my own Superfeet insoles and wore them exclusively for the two week trip (10-12 hour days). Comfortable. Stable. Good width. Most importantly, my feet stayed dry during a rainy day in Edinburgh and full blown stormy day visiting the Giants Causeway and surrounding coastal venues. If traveling in them, I recommend wearing them with different socks to make sure you find a good match to avoid hot spots or blisters. Also, if you're not used to spending time in boots, be prepared for a little ankle chafing the first couple of days.
Absolutely the most comfortable out of the box boot I've ever owned. But only 4stars as I love goretex but 2 times in damp morning grass and the 2nd time wet toes not the whole boot just my toes. Inhave not had them.in standing water yet. But I would buy again just for the comfort of the boot.
Shoes showed considerable wearing on the suede after my first time wearing them on a dry easy 7 mile hike on the PCT. Also, the tip of the shoe doesn't support your toes well. When going downhill the boot squeezes your toes really bad. Gonna try to return them today. Poor build quality.
I’ve owned several pairs of Merrell hiking shoes and boots. These are the best so far. Comfortable out of the box, light weight, with quality materials and workmanship. Have done several multi hour hikes on varied terrain and they out performed me previous pairs.
Great solution for day hikers. Comfortable. No break in. Waterproof. Lightweight. Just what this senior person needed for the type of hiking that I do.
