I LOVE the look of these shoes (the color scheme + style is chefs kiss), but unfortunately they just did not work for me. The area inside is sewn on each side of the tongue to help prevent debris from entering, but it bulges into the top of the foot and is SO uncomfortable, at least for me. I wanted these to work so badly because they are fly and seemed like good quality tread, waterproof, etc.... but unfortunately it was a miss. If it wasn't for the discomfort, I would have surely loved these. I tried 3 different hiking socks too, in hopes one would be thick enough to help with the discomfort, but no dice. REI handled the return well and no complaints with customer service. Hopefully they work for others, but sharing my experiencing in case it is helpful for anyone.
I bought these because I wanted a good pair of hiking shoes in a pretty color and mine are a pretty blue. I was hoping, and found it to be true, that they would keep my feet nice and dry during my morning walks thru fields and woods, AND that they would provide good support for my feet - I have osteoporosis and have had broken bones in both feet. These provide really comfortable, protective support and were exactly what I was hoping for.
