Narrow toe box

I have a thin foot but still like when the toe box of running shoes is wider to let my toes spread while running. I land on my toes so it's important to land comfortably. The Mach 5 had that wider toe box but it wasn't providing enough cushion for me. I was very excited for the Mach 6 as the stack height was increased. However, the toe box is much narrower and I don't find them as comfortable as the Mach 5. It is a bummer because I was sure this would be my favorite new road daily trainer. I wouldn't recommend them for serious runners. They are probably okay for jogging but will be jamming your toes together.

BEST HOKAS EVER!

I like these HOKAS better than any I have had and would buy them again. My daughter wore them to run one day and then went and bought herself a pair. Great shoes!

Mach 6 is too narrow compared to Mach 5!

If you loved the Mach 5, the 6 is much more narrow. I had to return. My foot felt like it was in a vice.

Super cushy and bouncy!

These are my first thick soled running shoes and I love how squishy and bouncy the soles are! I feel like I could go forever in them, they just propel you forward. I always order my running shoes a half size big so I didn’t feel like they had a narrow toebox like I read in other reviews (I do also have narrow feet). The upper is breathable which is great for heat, not great for rain or wet grass. But that’s fine. The only thing I actually have a problem with is the tongue… the rubber edge bites into the front of my ankle and is uncomfortable, so I have to wear longer socks and fold them over at the top for extra cushioning. I’m hoping this will break in with time and mold to my foot. I love the super cushioned back of the collar where you slide your heel in. It feels very soft, sturdy and supportive. All in all I am very happy with my purchase and look forward to putting many miles on them

Customer service is alive and well at REI!

I know that I could probably purchase shoes online and reduce cost, but the reason I visit REI is for their customer service. I was unsure of sizing and of style of shoe that I needed, but Ameriphil at the Pineville store patiently assisted me and discussed options. I am thrilled with my purchase and so appreciate his support and patience with me.

Mach 6 let down

Did not feel the hypersonic flow that the shoes name implied. More of a failure to launch in the first place. I had the Mach 4 & still cherish them for shorter runs & speed workouts. They still feel good and now managing usage to extend life because Mach 6 feels all wrong for my feet. Fit feels way more snug around middle/front of foot. It’s the right size. Bigger size was too big and back of my heel had space. It looks like I jammed my foot into a gas slipper — looks so constricted that when I mentioned the discomfort to my teammates on my second attempt to wear them, they immediately said yes they look tight. There was a moment mid run when I was like ok I can’t feel the tightness it’s ok. But nope. That was fleeting. I loosened up the laces to the max. Didn’t have this issue with other hokas (Clifton’s/bondi) Also, it looks like REI finally fixed the photo for the black colorful pair bc I did not get what I thought I was getting. The colors I had ordered spoke to my soul and I started my trial at “meh” level. I did try to overcome my biases but it was just the start of the end of a beautiful relationship with Mach. Hence this long goodbye review. Hope you have better luck with yours.

Great for treadmill

Looked sort of like clown shoes. Beige was a very bad color choice for me. Stains could not be removed. Extremely wide to the point of having to grip toes, so not good for walking on concrete. I still wear them for treadmill, which works well.

Love HOKAs

My third pair of HOKA's and these are the most comfortable. I have a wide foot and it's not always easy finding shoes for fitness walking and the gym. These look great and feel great and I will definitely buy this style again.

Very comfy shoes 👟

My wife loves her shoes. Only thing she doesn’t like to get a little dirty because of the color. They’re very comfortable for all day at school where she teaches. She recommends them.

sizing is smaller that Clifton.

lighter than Hoka Clifton, but the half a size smaller than that of Clifton. 6.5W Clifton fits me perfect. 6.5W Mach causes my toes to hurt (Shorter than Clifton)
