Turns to a 5 year old sweater after a few days

I usually love Smartwool and their materials, unfortunately this one falls apart after only a few wears. Sleeves and waist have lost consistency, and starting to fray on collar.

Sweater Does Not Retain Shape
videoman
Have owned this sweater for 1 month and have worn it frequently over a tee shirt or collared sports shirt. All leisure wear. Not worn while doing yard work, playing sports or similar. My major complaint is that the sweater has quickly stretched out in both arms and at the bottom. What was originally a smart fitting sweater has quickly turned into a baggy and formless pull over garment, like a "Schmata". Very disappointed in the product quality at this price point.

So Smart!

I love Smartwool clothing. It's great for layering in cold and wet weather. Wool is perfect for the winter dank that makes me crank. I can wear smartwool several times (maybe more, depending on how deep it is layered) before I feel it needs to be washed. I just toss it in a cold washing machine load. I'm a large mammal and I don't want any shrinkage in my wool, so I let it air dry. The only tiny criticism is that I've noticed that the collar on this sweater got a bit ratty and pilled after only a couple wearings. I just carefully trimmed the little nubbins off. Seems to be fine.

Nice but not much wool

Ordered this sweater after wearing a similar one from icebreaker. I saw Smartwool had a model close to $60 cheaper and I see why now, as although the fit is ok, and it is warm, but is not as warm as the mostly wool icebreaker piece, due to this sweaters low wool count. Also it loses its shape after a wear or so.

My husband loves this sweater

I bought this sweater for my husband over a year ago. I thought it would be great for a dressy sweater. He had other ideas. He wears this all the time. For everything. He loves it. Casual bike rides, quick trip to the store, the beach, camping, out to casual dinner. You name it- it’s his go to layer. It’s starting to pill, but still looks ok and works great. I’ve worn it in a pinch and enjoyed its warmth. anyway, the only down side is the pilling, but given the wear it’s gotten, I think it looks great. This is one of the more successful presents I’ve gotten him. I came here to buy him another color. Maybe he will keep this one for dress, but it’s doubtful. Either way, as long as he’s enjoying it, I’m happy too.

Light but still warm.

Overall a nice sweater. It’s surprisingly warm given how light it is, the fit is excellent, I’m 6’ and a shade under 200lbs wearing the large and it fits great. The only complaint is that the neck line does pill up a little bit from rubbing on my neck stubble but it isn’t too bad. If there were a lining around the neck of something that would hold up to the stubble better this would get 5 stars.

Old too fast smart too slow

I like style, feel and light weight features of smart wool I I sweaters. It’s just too bad they look haggard after a few washings. They get pilly, mis-shapen and worn looking too quickly Wife says “look at that old thing, time for a refresh” I tell her this was the refresh. Won’t buy again.

Not a Good Value

Good-looking, warm sweater, but started pilling and felting after wearing it only a few times. Really disappointing considering the price. The one I kept is reduced to yardwork duty - it's too shabby to go out in.

Too flimsy to be worn as a sweater

Too flimsy/lightweight. Better suited as a base layer than as a sweater. Even worn over a T-shirt you can see a man's nipple outline. Not a good look.

Great high quality sweater

I bought this sweater for my 65 year old father. It was consistent of what I know from the Smartwool brand. High quality, soft and warm. It looked great on him. XL was also the perfect fit. For reference he’s 6’3’’ and 210lbs.
