The Arahis are STILL ruined. For the past several years, I have run in Arahi 5s and 6s, and Asics Kayanos. I was aware of the negative feedback on the Arahi 7 and eagerly awaited the release of the 8s to replace my current tired pair of Kayanos. After one 3-mile run in the new Arahis, my knees hurt and I developed shin splints. The shoes are highly cushioned, but this comes at a price as the new H frame "support" feels very squishy side-to-side. I went for one more 1.5 mile walk in them a few days later and my shins immediately started to hurt. Needless to say I returned the shoes.
I currently own the Bondi 9 and the Clifton 8, and I’ve done a thorough gait analysis in the past. While I consider myself a neutral runner, I’ve found that the extra support provided by the Arahi model comes in handy during longer runs. I am a bigger runner 230 lbs. The day before my recent run in the Arahi, I ran 6 miles in the Bondi 9 and ended up experiencing pain on the right side of my knee. However, the very next day, I ran the same distance in the Arahi with no issues at all. Since then, I’ve completed three consecutive 6-mile runs without any pain or discomfort. I believe the H-frame structure of the Arahi offers a mild stability boost during longer runs, even for someone like me who is a neutral runner but when running longer probably have some mild breakdown on my running form. Overall, I’m impressed with how well the Arahi supports my longer distances and helps prevent discomfort.
Noticeable improvements over the Arahi 7. Seems to fit better with clearly improved cushioning. Very comfortable and has excellent support for over-pronation.
HUGE improvement over the 6 and 7. Arahi were my go to until they became super stiff (6's and 7's). The 8's are plush yet supportive. Toe box feels wider, more heal cushion, and more front cushion. Thick tongue helps keep the foot secure and in place. Weight feels light and they roll fast. I really have zero complaints aside from, give us more colors.
These are very different from the Arahi 6s and 7s - which I’ve run a lot in and love. More cushioned and springy definitely but not slower for me. Just a new better cushioned version of what I’ve liked. Very happy with the feel so far and love taking them out!
