Expectations exceeded

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this thing. It’s perfect for me and my 17lb dog with stuff for the day or a picnic. I’ve taken it out a few times in the canal near my place and nearby lakes. I will say the seams atop always allow water to enter when a wake slowly bounces us atop the water. But it’s super light and you can just tip one point to the sky and the excess drains out the bottom whence you reach land again. The boat is super stable and tracks just fine. I don’t think the skag seems necessary. The splash deck seems helpful and always has water on top so it’s better there and weirdly does not detach off when my dog decides to climb on top of it. I have not had a sore butt yet so the gel seat seems to be paying off. With all the accessories, putting it together and prepping for water takes about 10 minutes and putting it away takes about the same even with a wipe down. The backpack is clutch and paddles work great collapsing and building quickly and easily. This felt like the best option for an apartment dweller wanting to get on the water. I have no regrets with this purchase although my girlfriend is jealous so working on navigating that. May be begrudgingly back for more. I feel like I unlocked the bonus level of Seattle living.

So portable and fun!

Love our Lake+ kayaks! We’ve gotten lots of comments and questions about them. Folks are definitely jealous we can just fold them up and put them in our sedan! It was worth it to get the gel seats for some extra cushion. Appreciate the ability to adjust the backrest and footrest. When paddling the boat moves side to side quite a bit. On the upside you can turn on a dime! Downside is it’ll be a little slower and takes some getting used to. Now that we’ve had these for a bit my husband would have preferred a little longer of a boat like the inlet. But these work great and we are very happy with the portability and good ride on the water.

Taking on water?? Please advise!

I have used my Lake Sport twice since unpacking it. I set up the kayak according to your video and manual instructions, but it takes on a bit of water in the rear portion of the boat. The back portion is particularly challenging to align on my kayak - specifically the inner fold. Those portions do not line up well, even after tightening the inner strap. I can send photos of the kayak for proof. I have photos after 30-45 minutes of use and after 15 minutes of use showing the amount of water and can send them along for proof. It appears to be about a 1/4-1/2 cup of water after 30-45 minutes of use. During my first use, I kayaked for about 1-1.5 hours. By the time I was finished, the entire seat portion and seat of my pants was wet from water. Is this normal? Again, I am happy to send photos of the kayak for proof.

Lightweight, portable, easy assembly

I love my new Lake+! It's definitely better than a Tucktec, in my opinion. It's easy to assemble, super lightweight, and extremely portable with the addition of the Lake/Inlet backpack. It doesn't come with a skeg so tracking isn't that great, but you can buy a skeg as an accessory and install it yourself. It helps, but still isn't as good as a standard kayak. I think the price is pretty expensive but keep an eye out for a sale and it's perfect!

Newfound freedom to kayak!

I have used this twice now on a slow moving river, and it's perfect. I'm grateful for both the instructions and the video (but note: the video isn't for the Lake Sport). I recommend setting it up indoors first, just to get the hang of it. I'm glad I spent a little more for the Lake Sport to get the footrest and the better seat. I also recommend the bundle, which came with a shoulder strap, paddle, and dry bag, and they had a deal with a free PFD too (which is a nice one). The whole thing is easy to carry (at least for short distances) and fits snugly into the trunk of my hatchback.

Lake+ is a showstopper that's super light & practical

I'm really loving my Oru kayak and have had it out more than a handful of times this summer! For the price you are getting quick and simple a/de-ssembly, aesthetics, light weight, and compactness. My buddy also got a folding kayak but from a competitor, and he mentioned that the Oru looks much more sophisticated while his is a high school project. I said it's just more 'makeshift'; while his does the trick for much less cost, it's also more complex and heavier. I love how light the Lake+ is, and it's understandable that it will do some fish tailing when you're paddling because of its lightweight; come on people, you can't have it both ways, right? I've had many older folks and curious younger folks come and ask me about it... I may be one of your best salespeople out there! Hahahaha (I accept commissions :P) There are pros and cons with everything, but for my use this checks all the boxes for my goals. I've practiced and timed myself; I can set up my Lake+ in 3 minutes, while take down just takes about 2 minutes ^_^ one lady lifted mine and told her husband about how nice it was, while he was on his step ladder, struggling to get their two kayaks on top of their SUV; I can just set mine in my hatchback. I actually like the larger opening of the cockpit because it gives me better access and more space for stuff. I was able to set up my tripod and phone to do a video even! I'm planning on ordering the strap because I'm short and stout (like a teapot! :P 5'1") and the carrying strap would definitely help! If you get this, you'll find yourself watching the weather wondering when's the next time you can get out and paddle! The special they're running right now is also amazing; for less price when I got just the kayak, and you get some nice accessories too! DO IT!!!!!!!!!

I love my Lake Sport. It works so well for me. It fits in my Mini, I can carry and assemble on my own and I feel like I’m on vacation when I’m not.

Loving my Oru!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am thoroughly enjoying my Oru Lake kayak! It’s incredibly easy to assemble and disassemble. It handles very nicely on calm water. And I can store it easily in my urban condo and transport it without issue in my Prius! My only issue is, I felt the assembly instructions were very poor and included several errors. This was frustrating for the first time assembling. After that, of course it was not a problem. But there was a little bit of anxiety, even before opening the box and to find the instructions to be lacking and clarity only added to the frustration. For instance, I’m still not sure if the orange seat is supposed to go above or below or within the rails on the side of the kayak.
