Lightweight runner with good cushion

The first feature I noticed when unpacking these shoes was how extremely lightweight they felt, especially given the thick sole. I have to admit, I was also a bit nervous that they were solid white. Living in the PNW, I frequently run in the rain/mud and fully expected they would be brown in no time. The other feature that differed from my current trail runners was the lacing. I have become accustomed to using no-tie laces that cinch up nice and tight without causing numbing. Pros: The cushioning on these shoes did not disappoint. On the rockiest trails, these feel like running on clouds. The material was also more durable than expected and I’m happy to say they are still white despite all of the mud running. They’ve also been quite durable. I run 8-10 miles a day, 7 days a week and they are still in great shape after 8 weeks of use. Cons: I am still a huge fan of quick laces and have had a couple runs where I tied the laces too tight and felt some numbing. Despite the material staying fairly clean, I would still prefer an orange shoe with white accents over a white shoe with orange accents. Overall, these are a sturdy, comfortable and durable shoe that runs well in all conditions, including some snow/ice.

Not for wet rock and roots

Awful grip on wet rock and roots despite being marketed as “rugged trail”. The combo of whatever rubber plus the heavy lugs made a recent trail run feel like I had chunks of butter attached to my feet. Decent fit for my feet but not for the northeast where we have no shortage of wet rock and roots. Also, who decided to make a white trail running shoe?

Super comfy, sturdy and light!

These shoes are well made, soft yet sturdy and very lightweight. They were comfortable right out today the box. I wore them on a day when the trail was icy and they did great on the frozen ground and a bit of snow. Not surprisingly they didn't handle the odd icy spots, but nothing but spikes would!

Comfortable true-to-size running shoe

I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers program in exchange for my honest review. I really like these shoes. They're comfortable, fit true-to-size, have a very cushy base perfect for trails, and stay put not creating any hot spots. The fact that they're white is a bummer, and I definitely would've given 5 stars if they were not white. White plus trail running just doesn't equal anything good. So far I've worn them twice, and put about 8 miles total on the shoes. They didn't need any breaking in period for me, they are comfy right out of the gate. The first trail I wore them on was a bit muddy after a recent rain, and thus my white shoes are no longer white. The second trail was dry and dusty and added to the dirty look, although I have not yet tried washing the shoes so I can't say how clean I can get them. As for the function of the shoe itself, I'm very happy with them.

Perfect fit! So comfortable!!

These arrived just as I was headed to the panhandle of Florida for a three day get-away. I put them on and headed to the airport. Out of the box they fit perfectly and they were so comfortable! You know when you put on a pair of shoes and think, "wow?" Well, I did that with these shoes. I usually use inserts but these were perfect. And since it was a short trip they were the only shoes I took beside house shoes. They were great for travel. And they were great for running on the trails and the sand. My stay was extended for 4 days due to "snowmageddon" and I ended up wearing only these shoes. I walked miles in them photographing the area under a blanket of snow. The tread held up perfectly! I walked the bayside looking for cold-stun sea turtles (I found 2 and the wildlife rescuers came to get them). I hiked Ft. Pickens looking for wildlife. Essentially these shoes are perfect for everything - running, walking, traveling, snow, sand, concrete sidewalks.

Sturdy trail runners

Quickly comfy and sturdy for the trail. I found the used to fit true to size and got 10 miles in on my first run with them without any issues, even after trudging through puddles and mud

No heel cup, wears like a casual shoe.

I bought these in store last week. Full price so at $140.00 they really need to be great. They felt great in store but as I settled into them on a long dog walk I noticed my toe was hitting quite a bit behind the toe cap. These would probably be better with a good insole with some heel support (pushing the foot forward a little) but as is I’m sitting right up flat on the back therefore feeling like the toes are too long. I also tried them on the stair climber at the gym and same issue, tripping a little over the toes.

Uncomfortable Snug Shoe

Keep in mind that everyone’s foot fits shoes differently. My review is based on my feet. I immediately noticed the shoe colors and the narrow toe box upon opening. I don’t like the color choices especially the grey plastic toe cap - shape, size or color. I like the reflective logos on the shoes. I noticed immediately as I put the shoe on the firm grip it had on my foot - I like a roomy shoe. The toe box is narrow. I noticed the shoe laces were not made from a material to keep them tied without double knotting. I tried for the first tenth of a mile yet had to stop and retie twice so I double knotted. I noticed how my heel didn’t fit inside the heel hull and around 2 miles my heels were rubbing on the upper right side of both my feet causing hot spots. I stopped running and walked back and the spots got worse so I removed the shoes. The shoes were not a great fit for me and caused hot spots just two miles into my run routine. Again, everyone’s feet are different including color and design choices.

Good for hikes and runs, maybe not for backpacking

These shows are supportive and have good traction. They are cushioned just enough- not too much. I like the laces and the color ( I have the white/grey) So far they have been on a short trail run and a longer hike, about 25 miles altogether, and I also wore them to work (before the hike, while still clean looking) They seem durable, and I would consider taking them on a backpacking trip, although I have a pair that I like better for that.

Why change perfection?

I wanted to love these and Peregrines have been my go to shoe for years. The 12 and 13s were amazing, could wear them out of the box for hundreds of miles. I hiked rim to rim to rim in my 13s and never had a hot spot or fatigue. Needing to replace them I received these as a gift for my birthday - what a bummer! They were HUGE, I have consistently worn W9 (40.5 EU) for many years and I these were a half size too big. I returned them and tried on W8.5 and the toe box was much more narrow, I could feel them rubbing on my pinky toe. So disappointed these changed from the 13s!!
