Good concept, but falls short in delivery
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great concept, but falls short in delivery. I used these shorts while training on a treadmill. As someone whose inner thighs chafe, it did not provide the inner coverage needed to prevent chafing making it difficult for me to even a run a mile comfortably. Definitely a built in inner spandex lining would be ideal for this issue. However, I do like how comfortable and lightweight it is! But it is a little too light weight, as the pockets couldn’t hold much weight. Therefore, my small items in my pockets were drooping and weighed me down more. Overall the fit of the shorts is slightly on the large side. I still do use the shorts often, for yoga and other cardio workouts! Just not running
Worth it!
I love the Chaser 5” shorts. They are so lightweight I don’t even notice them. I feel the 2.0 are slightly smaller in the waist which is perfect for me. I am 5’4 and 110lbs. I had to cinch up the original to keep them up but the XS was too tight in the butt. The 2.0 size small fit is much better. They are pricey, but last a long time. I average 50 miles a week running and the Chasers survive washing very well. I had a pair lose the logo off the leg, but the material looks perfect. Trust me, the price is worth it. I am looking forward to long hot summer runs!
Comfortable And Lightweight
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Brooks Women Chaser 5” Short 2.0 are my new favorite shorts! The color I have on is Neo Cayenne and it is so vibrant and bright. I have a walking pad at home in my basement and I constantly find myself reaching for these shorts. I got them in a size L and I’m about 165lbs give or take. They are so comfortable and stay put in the waistband, plus there is an adjustable draw cord. These shorts don’t restrict you and provide a full range of motion. They are very lightweight and it feels like you have nothing on! I‘m 5’6 and the length is perfect for me and provides the right amount of coverage. I love that there is enough room in the leg area for walking, running, and stretching. Now I need a pair of these shorts in every color.
Comfy and light
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love how bright colored the Womens Chaser 5" Short 2.0 is. It helps me stay more visible when it starts getting dark. The shorts fitted just right. It is very light weight and breathable. I like that it has a pocket at the center in the back although it would have been great if it could close so I could put me key in there without worrying about it falling out. I like the style in general, not tight but flowy. It is almost like a skorts. The fabric stays dry and holds well when washed. It is definitely one of my favorite shorts.
Comfortable and functional
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are by far the best running shorts I’ve ever used. I’m on the taller side (5’8”) and always struggle to find shorts that are comfortable, stay put, and don’t run too short. They have a short tight liner that I found helped keep them in place while running. I’ve used them for a few weeks and they were indeed chafe-free. They were also functional with storage to hold essentials while out for a run. I found that these shorts run fit true to size. Aside from the comfort and functionality, these shorts were also flattering.
You feel free in these shorts!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shorts are one of my favorites now in rotation and I can’t wait until the temperature begins to warm up more to use them more frequently. I love the built in liner that makes me feel secure, but the outer material is more loose fitting and flows so well with movement. These shorts are flattering in all the right places. I received the bright orange/pink color, which as a roadside runner at times near my neighborhood, feels like an added safety measure considering the brightness. I haven’t experienced any chaffing or skin breakdown while wearing these shorts, a testament to friction and moisture prevention. Very pleased!
Breathable, quality materials, and good fit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I normally wear size 4-6 in pants and M in leggings, and size small fit me perfectly. The waist is mid-rise, high enough to be flattering for my post-partum body. The shorts have a drawstring, but they fit me just fine without using it. I wore it with black leggings underneath, and the lining is substantial enough that you couldn't see the black underneath. When I wore it without the leggings, the lining didn't ride up and stayed comfortably in place throughout my run. The fabric is breathable, lightweight, and quiet (I can't stand annoying swishing noises on long runs). The side pocket has a metal zipper that feels high quality. The pocket is a substantial size. To give an idea of dimensions, I was able to fit four earbud cases in it. The back pocket is not zippered, but the waistband is tight and the pocket itself is wider than the opening, so if the item you store in the pocket is wider than the opening then it's unlikely to fall out. The biggest downside for me was the size of the back pocket. My phone is 6.25" x 3.25" and it was too big to fit into the pocket. I tested a smaller phone (5.25" x 3") and that one fit well. The shorts are snug enough that the phone didn't bounce at all while I ran. Overall, the shorts are breathable and thoughtfully designed, and would be my go-to for long runs if my phone fit in the pocket.
I miss those front pockets!
I’m giving this 2 stars in comparison to the previous version; however the new, in my opinion, inferior version is by far better than every other running short I’ve tried. The quality seemed maintained however the new features are annoying. The zip pocket is useless and the back pocket is no longer large enough to hold my mobile phone. I also miss the front pockets that were perfect for holding my pocket knife without chafing, a very important feature for women running alone. Finally the new drawstring is uncomfortable and looks frumpy.
Fantastic Feel! Slightly Snug
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shorts are phenomenal. The bright salmon color of these is so eye-catching, particularly in the mornings when it's hard to get going, and helps me to feel a little bit more 'seen' on the roads. Additionally, they have hidden zippers on the pockets! The fabric rests against the legs without riding up and is a very comfortable light weight fit. With winter leggings they can be a bit snug so I would recommend sizing up for the current cold front. But, when worn without, they fit very nicely. Overall, I love these shorts. They're in my new permanent rotation. The only thing I would change is some of the elastic on the hips and thighs. In the warmer months, these will be every day running shorts. But, with leggings, I feel I want to size up.
