My upper foot has been bothering me for about 6 months. I stopped spinning, gave up rowing and have been maintaining the best I can on an elliptical since then. My best lady and I traveled to REI in search for some other sports shoe. Very nice and informed gentleman assisted me in finding this TOPO brand, which I have never used. I have been reading about the benefits of the wider toe box. I tried on a couple of different shoes and walked around the store for a while. I wore this trail runner home and I am telling you that the difference has been unbelievable. At first I thought that I might be in the wishful thinking mode, turns out, not the case. I'm able to "toe off" again on that foot. BTW, I am a 70 year old, male. Thank you, John
This is the second pair I’ve owned. I really like the fact that the toe bed is wide, but the shoes are not made to last. Both pairs developed the same issue within a month of walking on average 8 miles per day. The inside edge along the heal wears out and then the plastic starts cutting into your heal. It’s a definite design flaw that they should be able to fix.
Breathable, durable, comfortable, and importantly (and 100% subjectively) better looking than its predecessor. One of my favorite lite gravel, "quiver killer" shoes. This is one of the best balanced shoes out there. Obviously there are better shoes for pure pavement, pure trail running etc. but 80% of the time these shoes fit the bill and exceed expectations.
I was looking for a shoe that would help relieve pain across the top of my foot. My doctor suggested I try a shoe with more rocker to reduce foot flex. I also wanted a shoe with a wide toe box similar to a pair of Altra's I have. The associate at REI suggested I try Topo's. They are very comfortable and give my toes plenty of room to spread. I'm not a runner, but I do a lot of walking and hiking and I've been pleased with the fit and stability. The shoes did not totally solve the foot pain, but they do seem to provide some improvement. Overall very happy with these shoes.
Having tried a massive amount of trail shoes, this might be my favorite yet. I really liked Topo's MTN Racer 3, but after 100+ miles I started getting pretty bad blisters. Compared to the MTN Racer 3, the Ultraventure 4 has a wider mid-foot section. I've been used for road/trail and purely trail runs. Love this shoe! Bonus: they clean off with a hose really well after a muddy run.
I walk a lot. Typically 3-5 miles a day and often much longer. I combine various types of calisthenics with my walks. I go through a lot of shoes, easily 6-10 pairs a year. This was my first purchase of Topo's shoes. I don't run. I walk. Overall, I think they have been the most comfortable shoes I've bought in years. One foot needed some adjustment, but it went quickly, and they are great. I find a thin sock works best. Additionally, having two pairs of the same shoes to alternate allows my feet to avoid becoming too accustomed to the wear of one, works best. I am delighted with my purchase, and I encourage you to take them for a spin. I think you will be happy you did.
I wore these for 400 miles on the PCT.I know that I wasn't easy on them, but they really have fallen apart. Notably, they split at the seam from the shoe to the foam base on both shoes, and the wear at the heel on the inside was very severe as well. Otherwise I thought they were a good shoe! They just disintegrated in a way that I wasn't expecting.
I bought these shoes a month ago prior to a two week trip to Japan and I haven't stopped wearing them since. Wore and walked these shoes everyday and my feet never felt worn out after 20k+ steps. I was recommended to get these shoes as it provides necessary arch support to my feet and also provides stability for any under/over pronation. My feet are wide so the shoe itself provides space for my toes compared to the standard cone like tip of shoes. Wore Hokas one day and my feet began to hurt at the end of the day as those didn't provide support to my feet besides cushioning.
Every time I put these on, it legitimately feels like they’re giving my feet a soothing, therapeutic hug. Love the wide toe box, as well as the ample cushion, which adds a genuine spring to my every step. Most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned.
Love these shoes, I'm normally a 2E but the regular width works great for my wider midfoot/ narrower heel. The wide toe box is very comfortable too. While these aren't listed as a stability shoe, I find them stable and comfortable and work well with my prescription orthotics inside. This model is a little wider than other Topo shoes which works great for me. Great for all around wear and moderate hiking.
