Versatile, Comfortable, great material!
I've used this product for my kids (4 year old boy and 2 year old girl) both in Cancun and during late-winter camping environments. This is a very versatile piece of clothing. The color fits across all genders and the sizing is adaptable between a 2 and 4 year old. It provides a break from the sun as well as a slight block from a cool breeze. Perfect mid-layer in my opinion. Love that it has an elastic hood that can move with the kids head and they aren't blinded by it. Would give 5 stars if it had thumb holes and/or kangaroo pouch type pocket. The material provides breathability in direct sun and also slight warmth in cooler temps.

Versatile Base layer for Toddler's
This is a great, comfy, and flexible base layer for your little one. My toddler is a climber who gets into everything and this kept up with them just fine. They didn't say much about this garment, because they can't really say much of anything, but they didn't fight me any more than any other hoodie/ base layer so it's a win in my book. Actually I think other parents will like this item as well. My toddler "should" be in 2T, but is quite tall. I ordered up, to 3T, and this fits perfectly. It's stretches nicely, but has a little bounce in it to keep its shape so it's can grow with your little one and you won't have to replace it in a month. I think this would fit a whole range of little bodies easily. It's easy to get on and off and easy to clean as well. I am quite smitten with the color as well. My little one wears this around the house as casual clothing, and we've thrown it on over their clothes as an extra layer under their winter coat and it's perfect for that - adds some extra warmth and basically takes up no space. It's also nice when they can't wear their puffy winter coats in the car seat, and this gives them just a bit more comfort in the winter. I would give this item a 4.5 if I could, but I docked it a point because it seems to snag a bit easily. We had some pulled loops of thread after the first wear. I don't think it's a deal breaker but maybe something to be aware of for certain toddlers and/or pet friends.
Perfectly toddler-sized version of an REI classic
Sometimes you wish they made toddler products for adults, and sometimes you wish the opposite. This is the perfect realization of the latter, a great all-around wear for the kiddos you wish they had when you were little. The fabric is light enough is breath when it's a little warm, and substantial enough to warm when there's a little nip in the air. The spaciously sized hood provides enough sun coverage for any and all situations. Lastly, the fabric is stretchy enough to grow with your kid - our little dude is a few months shy of 2, but we expect it last him a good long while. Hiking, biking, or just playing around a park, this is a great layer to have. Can't wait to see what other products in this line that REI develops.
Summer Hoodie Excellence
This is an excellent light weight hoodie. Fits true to size with the arms being slightly longer than others.The material is very soft and the green color is vibrant. The hood fits well and covers the head very well. Will be great in the summer to protect from the sun!
Favorite shirt - will repeat buy in next size up
Literally the best for playing outdoors with a toddler. The material is durable and it's well constructed. It's great at cutting sun without overheating my kiddo. Also, I'm not sure what's going on with the material but my kid has gotten so many spills on this shirt and it always washes out (even when the same food doesn't wash out of cotton). It's a favorite item and I will be buying it in the next size up as my son grows
COLOR NOT AS ADVERTISED
The material seems fine (haven't tried it yet), but the color is absolutely not as advertised. It's much darker and bluer - both of my kids are disappointed, as they wanted something bright teal. May return purely because of color misadvertisement.
A must have for sun protection!
A formal request for this product in more colors! It is worn every single time it is clean. The perfect light but protective layer for my very fair skinned toddler. Love the hood for added neck protection. We also use as a swim shirt.
Great light-weight sun-blocker
It’s become a go-to staple for our outdoor outings, both as cover for the sun and a base layer in the cold. The fit is just right, roomy enough to move freely but not baggy, and the material is soft and feels like the high-quality material you expect from REI brand gear. We especially love the hood design as it provides great sun coverage from the sides, and our little one enjoys wearing it. After many washes and lots of outdoor play, it still looks great!
Son loves this shirt!
Love this shirt - I find all REI kid's clothes to run a little big, so the 4T fits slightly loosely on my normally 5T-wearing-son. It's soft, lightweight, and a perfect light layer when things get chilly. Love the sun protection, too. Wish it came in more color options, b/c I'm washing the constantly!
