Great updated shirt!
My kids had the REI Sun shirts several years ago that were more of a waffle texture fabric. This has been a nice upgrade in a new larger size for my growing kiddo. He really liked the feel of the fabric on his skin. It is slinky, but doesn’t feel like it will snag. The extra length in the sleeves with the thumb hold is perfect for my tall lanky child. He said the hood was comfortable to have up and covering his neck and ears, but even when he took the hood down, the extra cross over detail at the neckline helps keeps the sun at bay by covering more than a regular T-shirt. I see this shirt getting a lot of use by the lake and at the beach this summer.
Soft and great hood coverage
This Sunshirt has been a great addition for a kiddo who loathes sunscreen and prefers to be in T-shirts. It’s soft, has solid hood coverage, and is “ver cozy” according to the kid! The best part is the fabric isn’t that overly synthetic feel of many sunshirts and rashguards, so there is a better chance that he will wear it consistently!
Cute and comfortable
I got this for my older one, but my three-year old stole it. Getting her to enjoy wearing any clothing is a win! The material is so soft, I like the thumb holes—especially nice for layering and not having the slee es ride up, and a nice hood. Kept my daughter warm on a cool day (while she refused to wear a jacket), but is still breathable.
wonderful shirt, funky sizing
My sensory kid loves these shirts (and I love the higher UPF rating than last year’s version). The material is light, soft, and stretchy. He loves the thumb holes. My only issue is the sizing — my kiddo is 6, and while he’s always on the high end of the growth chart, I never thought I’d be putting him in the 10/12 size! He’s a solid 52# and tall, but the 8 was way too small (for comparison, he just moved into size 8 from Target/Cat and Jack and Jumping Bean/Kohls). His 8yo brother is also comfortably in the 10/12 size. Definitely recommend sizing up if you are looking at these shirts!
My son loves this shirt!
Over the years, I have bought dozens of sun protection shirts for my two boys to wear while hiking, camping, kayaking, etc., and this one is my oldest son’s new favorite. He loves the soft material and that it is super breathable. He wore it recently on a short hike, as well as while running relay races with his friends and he said it did a great job of keeping him dry and comfortable on both occasions. I personally love the hood and know it will come in handy on all our summer hikes when he doesn’t want to wear a hat. Overall, my son and I both love this shirt and we’ll definitely be buying more!
for smaller individuals, too!
I’m a smaller cis woman with shorter arms and torso (5’1”, 107lbs), and I really struggle to find women’s clothing with a cut that I like. Sleeves and body are always way too long and I find the shoulders are too tight. I’m normally a women’s XS or 00 and the kids medium fits really well. Sleeves are great, and I love the fit. Highly recommend if you or your kids are of similar size!
Love this in XL over the women's Small for me!
After not loving the fit and style of the women's version, I decided to go for it and try the same sun shirt in the kid's and men's cuts. I prefer the straight hem of those cuts. The men's was too long for me. The kid's XL was just right! Going to order in another color.
Nice, light shirt for warm weather
My teenage daughter wore this shirt several times over the last few weeks. Here is her feedback: She likes shirts with thumb-holes, so good job there. Color is cute (hers is a dark teal/blue/green). The fit overall was right on, fits her well (4' 10" and petite), and isn't bulky so doesn't snag on stuff. Good for keeping off the sun outside without being too hot. Not for cold weather, though--better for spring and summer. She didn't care for the texture of the fabric--but more her personal preference for materials than anything wrong with the shirt.
Great lightweight long sleeve!
This has been a great top for baseball season and chilly outdoor practices! I think we’ll get great use of it camping this summer. It does run a little big so keep that in mind. We didn’t mind the size since my son is wearing it as a layer.
Very comfy and lightweight
I have an adult version of this and love it. I wanted to try one for my daughter as well for hot summer days in the sun. The first thing she said when she felt it was ohhh I love it! It is very soft and stretchy and very comfortable to wear. The hood is a little large, but works better with a hat to take up some of the snack and form it. The color is nice and is super compact and lightweight which is handy for having around for not just hiking but just playing outside. It’s kind of strange how they keep you cooler than just a t shirt but it works! Very happy with this piece.
