Rugged and Functional

After numerous times of use my Rocky Mountain High Gaiters have never let me down! They are great when trekking through forest where thorns are abundant, they are great at keeping water out from dampened ground, great at keeping creepy crawlies and all alike out, and paired with waterproof boots water intrusion when stepping into shallow water is almost non-existent. The bottom strap is very tough and has yet to sustain any damage. They also stay snug around the top of the calf with out ever slipping down. Great product to have when off the beaten path and are hiking through uncharted territory. Great affordable price point. Highly recommend!

Pretty good!

Fits nicely on the boots and legs. Velcro will wear-out faster than the rest of the gaiter. When that dose happen I'll probably replace it with a waterproof zipper.

Keeps the snow out

I'm a ski lift mechanic and at our resort we supplement the snow makers during the big push before the season kicks off. These things held up great! I was post holing for 13 hours a day 6 days a week without any material failure or any snow/water getting inside my boots. They held up to climbing ladders, riding snowmobiles, and climbing over the aluminum tracks on snow groomers. They were truly an indispensable piece of equipment. I should note that I wore a rain shell over the top of them to keep water from seeping in from the top, but I did not have a problem with snow working its way up and over the tops of my 8" boots once I started wearing these.

If you do not own gaiters, you are wrong.

The Outdoor research Rocky gaiters are amazing. I've used them in downpours, snow, mud, everywhere. They are amazing for keeping the elements and insects out. Here in Tennessee there are lots of underbrush you'll come across that tears up clothing or leaves you covered in ticks. These gaiters do an amazing job protecting your legs and keeping you warm in the winter. I will say, they are not the most breathable during the summer but that is to be expected. All in all buy them and you will not be disappointed!

Wish more thought went into the straps design

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love OR gaiters but within the first few uses the strap end holder is starting to become detached and the under-boot straps will not stay put! I am currently using pins to keep them in place which is frustrating. Also, I like that the top has the strap for tightening them to keep them up but the clasp doesn't stay closed and I have a long strap that gets caught on sticks etc when I'm doing fieldwork. Lastly, I love the extra Velcro piece at the bottom to ensure the rest of the Velcro doesn't come undone while I'm hiking. Overall the gaiters work great for their intended purpose and I've had no water problems crossing streams, but I wish more thought went into the straps.

Saved Me in the Snow!

I went hunting with my brother in Idaho where he was living and was unprepared for the weather! Lucky for me my brother had these amazing gaitors! they saved my feet on a multiday upland hunting adventure. We hiked 30+ miles in snowy conditions, and not good dry snow but that wet nasty snow. Day one my boots were soaked through and without these gators, I don't know if I would have been able to keep going for the full week long trip. Great product at a great price!

Good though a bit small

I work on the snowmaking team at a large ski resort. Gaiters are a must have for us. I originally ordered the "Large" size but it was too small so I ordered the "Extra Large". They are still a wee bit too small, but I am able to get the velcro to close. The problem is that our work boots are pretty big around the ankles. Overall, though, as a product, these are great. The velcro has held up perfectly all season. The under-boot strap has been durable thus far. And, they have not gotten torn yet despite a season's work. I imagine these will be excellent for skiing in powder if I ever get a day off!

Burly protection for rowdy conditions

Gentle little stroll through the woods from pre dawn meet to freezing fog start. Followed by hiking on Ice covered rocks and roots. Then some smashing through crazy thick under brush followed by knee deep snow. Eventually Finding multiple snow packed summits. On our final peak we took a few minutes to enjoy a spot of hot chocolate. In total 12 mi, 9 hours, 3700 ft elevation, 24,781 steps

Does not breath

Both my sister and I bought these gaiters We hiked Mt LeConte last week and the temp when we started up was 34 degrees. We were hike in shorts and our gaiters on our legs. About 2 miles into our hike both of our legs and the insides of the gaiters were covered in sweat. These gaiters do not breathe at all. I will be returning my pair and I believe my sister will also.

Wish I'd found these sooner

As a below knee amputee, I've struggled with a solution to prevent grass, dirt, and debris from ruining my prosthesis when doing yard work, especially trimming and edging. This covers my leg perfectly, sealing out all the mess, so no longer have to dissemble my entire leg to clean up. It definitely beats having to wear long pants in the LA heat and humidity.
