Sizing Notes

Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".

PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.

TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

Cooler weather rain jacket

I am reviewing this jacket as part of the REI Trailblazers program. This is a cool weather jacket and the fabric is substantial. I found that going through green briar and other sharp materials had no effect on the fabric, no scratches or tears. During a short heavy rain shower the water just beaded on the fabric and fell off. The jacket dried off quickly. Due to a drought since I received the jacket I have not been able to test it out in a heavier more prolonged rain event. There are two side outside pockets with good zippers that could easily contain a phone, gloves, wallet etc. There is also a vertical outside pocket which is so neatly concealed that I almost missed it. This easily holds my 3 x 6 inch iPhone. The main zipper is substantial and extends well up into the hood area. In addition there are two arm pit zippers which I like to use if the weather is milder. These are easy to open and close while wearing the jacket even with a day pack on. The bottom of the jacket has an elastic hem draw but I don’t use this. The cuffs have a nice Velcro closure useful in cooler, windy weather. I do like the hood. It has a small peak which deflects any rain. There is a nice horizonal elastic hood drawcord that makes the hood fit more snugly on your head especially if you are not wearing a hat. The toggle is at the back but it is easy to reach around and adjust it. There are also hood drawcords but I found them fiddly to use. I got a medium as I do not like tight jackets. This jacket runs big and I could have probably worn a smaller size. But the capacious nature of the jacket means that you can wear a substantial fleece or puffer jacket under it and still not feel restricted. The sleeves come down to the base of my fingers and the length comes to about 10 inches below my waist but I am tall. Initially the fabric is stiff although this may soften up over time. I can fold it up and put in a 28 litre day pack but you would be struggling to fit into a small pack or bag. This is definitely an autumn/winter/early spring jacket. It keeps you snug in windy conditions and I think it would perform well in snowy conditions. I have worn it in below freezing temperatures and windy conditions and while on its own it would not keep you warm it worked well with a thin base layer and a medium weight fleece. The exterior of the jacket has a streamlined look and it would not be out of place in a city or while traveling. It will be going with me on my next trip to Britain. The Saragasso Sea colour is a very pleasant shade and is true to the website colour. It is lined which makes it easy to get on and off quickly. I think it is too stiff for downhill skiing and its weight would make it unsuitable for my backpacking trips. I will be using this for cooler weather hiking and around town.

Warm and dry

I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. This is a great jacket that moves well. I haven't had a lined rain jacket in a while (besides winter coats), as I'm used to prioritizing lightness and packability, so I was a little surprised to remember how much more comfortable it can be, especially in cold weather. The hood stays up over my face without flopping into my eyes like so many rain jacket hoods do. Pockets are at a good spot for my hands (with an extra one over the chest), the zips work fine without snagging, and there are the requisite armpit vents. My normal size is xs, and I found the jacket roomy enough for some layers including a bulky sweatshirt. Went out in 30-60 degree weather. Stayed nice and dry in the series of atmospheric rivers we had lately, and it didn't feel too stifling inside my jacket on hikes. Looking forward to testing the durability before, especially since I'm tired of the flaking thing that happens with waterproof coatings on lite jackets. Would love to see more colors.

Solid performing waterproof jacket.

The Teris GTX rain coat is an excellent option for a mid-weight type shell. It has everything you would expect from a quality coat such as zippered pits and an adjustable hood. I ordered a size small which is my usual size. I would say that it runs a little bit large, which seems somewhat typical for the REI brand of clothing (for reference, I am 5'4" and weigh around 123 lbs). This works out well for me because I can wear it by itself or as a protective shell over a vest or down jacket. I wore this cross-country skiing (over a down vest) and it kept me warm and dry all day, despite the constant snow falling. I have had the opportunity to wear this jacket about a half dozen times so far and it did not disappoint in rain or snow.

City walk or a hike, coat does the trick

As part of REI trailblazers, I received this coat and am now reviewing. It arrived on a day of rain, so while out dog walking I could finally leave behind the umbrella. I am very pleased with coat for keeping dry. Hood stays in place with wind, velcro wrist straps ensures a smooth transition over light gloves, if needed, and particularly like the armpit vents for when hiking. I got a size bigger than typical to ensure room for a fleece or vest underneath as the coat is not lined. The material is a bit stiff which is the only con. I also wish it came in a brighter color.

Great rain jacket

Wore this for the first time in 50 degree rainy weather. It's thin/not insulated, but is cut generously enough to fit a sweatshirt underneath. With that added layer, I stayed warm and dry. I particularly appreciated the sleeve length and the fact that the pockets zip closed. Good length as well - falls to mid-hip on me (5'6").

Waterproof and warm

We had a midwinter rain in Chicago in January (climate change) and some freezing rain, so I needed a rain jacket that would keep me dry and also be warm enough for temps in the 30s. This jacket was the perfect option, since it's a thick material, and is large enough to fit a lightweight down layer underneath. The hood is large and protective, but stays up in the wind and doesn't impair my vision. The jacket itself is very waterproof and windproof. It may be too warm on a very hot summer day, but is perfect for fall/winter/spring days when it's cold and rainy. I love the dusty blue color, too.

No Lining, very cheap,

No lining, very cheap. I would have paid an extra $50 to have a lining. I've had a Gortex or similar jacket since the early 1990s and this is the first such jacket that did not have a lining. Taking it back.

Way too big

I have a very similar styled jacket-also an REI product, purchased just a few years ago in a medium. Either the sizing has changed, or you should order a size down from what you normally wear, which is what I had to do. The material still feels very high quality and I’m sure I will be happy with a smaller size.
