Uncomfortable
Since I own several pair of Keen shoes, hikers and sandals, and I wear them daily, I thought that slippers would feel heavenly. I purchased the size 10 Safari color Howser 2. They look fine, the material seems durable, the soles do not slide on my hardwood floors, but the arch location is too far back on my foot. Also, I expected a much more cushioned feel to the bottoms. My other Keen shoes, all size 10s, do not have this arch issue. If I were to buy a half size smaller, my toes would touch the front of the shoe, so not the answer for me. Guess what footwear I put my feet into first thing in the morning? A pair of Keen hikers! The hikers have more cushioning.
I LOVE these shoes!
As comfy as slipper, easy to get on, and yet I can jump up and go outside to my yard or do an errand without having to put on "real" shoes. It will be hard to ever stop wearing these. I normally wear at 10.5 in Keen but I had to move up to an 11 for these because I have a high instep. They are comfy without socks and also with socks because the fleece lining is cozy and accommodating. What's not to like!! I just bought the bootie version because I live in Boston and I'll need to be able to run outside with a little snow on the ground, plus the higher version will keep my ankles warm. You'll never get me out of these shoes!
Sturdy structured for a slipper......
I purchased the purple plum color and this is the first pair of slippers I've had in decades. I finally decided to treat myself for the winter ahead. I went a half size up because I add a high arch support and I wanted to wear a medium thick sock with them and this plan worked perfectly. They are snug enough without being tight and are easy to slip on and off. The toe box does not seem as wide as other shoes I have from KEEN. I don't think they're the most comfortable slipper shoes in the world but after a bit of break in time, they should conform to my feet a bit better. These are OK for walks to the mailbox but I don't suggest them for mile long walks with the dog.
Most comfortable shoes with great arch support!!
I love these shoe slippers!! I hesitated buying them b/c I wasn't quite sure if they were a shoe or a slipper - but I decided to go for it and I am so glad that I did!! I use them as both a shoe (wear to work, shopping, etc.) and as a slipper. They are great and look good with leggings for wearing to work with socks or w/o socks just lounging around the house. They are very warm and comfortable with really good arch support. They are like wearing clouds on your feet - absolutely wonderful!! I bought the maroon color and liked them so much that I bought the black - I have gotten compliments on them. I am extremely picky about my shoes and these are a definite winner!!
Okay
I have been looking for a shoe to replace two pairs of Keens that I got so long ago that I don't remember what they were called or when I bought them. They were suede and lightweight, easy to slip on, with enough support that I could wear them all day. The Howsers were the closest I could get to them. The arch support is adequate, but could be better placed. I love that they are warm -- they're like slippers that can be worn outdoors -- but I wish the uppers were made of leather or suede instead of that nylon stuff, which makes them look like they are just made for home and the most casual of outings. I want an equally comfortable shoe that can be worn in slightly less informal settings.
Just a little big
I typically wear a 40 and have been happy with other shoes from Keen at this size. These were a little loose when I put them on. I probably should have sent them back then, but I was so excited to get new slippers. I've had them now for a couple of weeks. I have found that after wearing for a few hours with no sock, they rub on the inside of my ankle, so much so I have to take them off, (pain is an exaggeration, but moves in that direction. I'm disappointed in myself for not returning right away, now I've worn too much to return. Note to self: Listen to yourself and control your child within!!
Super Cool Shoes, But...
I've been buying these shoes for years - three pair total. Each year, I come back to treat myself to a new pair. They're "super" shoes - warm, comfortable, and they wear forever. You can put them on and not want to take them off! That having been said, my only complaint - to the Company - is why can't you start making them in more colors as you did in the past? They don't need to be "flashy" or vibrant, but the color choices now are boring! I have a pair of the dark red, moss green and steel grey - bring them back! Stick to the black soles and nylon uppers as some of your customers (such as myself) are wearing these all day, every day and would prefer they not necessarily look like slippers.
not what it used to be
I have been wearing this slipper for longer than i can remember in years. My first pair was a heavy ugly gray wool, but it had great support. gradually, your slipper took on colors and different fabrics My last pair and I do believe it will be my last pair has fallen in quality. although the interior is now a fashionable black to match the shinning black material.. The thickness of the lining is half of what it was previously... If this is your first pair of KEEN slippers you won't know that the quality but not the price has diminished. I am sorry you choose to lower your standards.
Sturdy, rugged, good shoe
Ordered a women's 10, my usual size and same size my other Keen's are. But the Howser runs slightly large and since it's a slip-on there is no lace to tighten to snug your foot in. I should have ordered a 9 1/2 .....but.......my feet hurt alot from various things and once I put in some older orthodics which took up some space, they are ok. I can wear them without slipping inside, and they feel good. My toes have room to spread and relax. I will keep them and make my own adjustments for fit. I appreciate the wide toe box Keen shoes have and that is a game changer for me.
I needed a half size larger
I had a pair of these shoes before, and wanted a second pair since I tend to wear my shoes down on the outer heal. I loved these shoes and wore them outside all last winter with socks. My previous pair was a 8.5, so I assumed that I should order the same size, but the new pair was so snug that my toes pushed into the front of the toe area. So I ordered a size 9, and they were perfect. Not sure what's going on since others said the shoes fit perfectly or were a little too long. I would order these again, but was disappointed in the sizing issue.
