Warm, smooth, reversible (label snips off!)

I bought one neck gaiter for me and one for my husband. We both love the ease and warmth of these neck gaiters. We just grab and go for a toasty warm walk on a frosty morning. Okay: pro-tip (I design wool knitted throws, hats, etc.) The SmartWool neck gaiter is reversible for a different color on each side. One side has the label lightly sewn on. The label is meant to be removed. Here's how you do it: The label is sewn on with simple "basting" stitches. (The actual seam is invisible...you will NOT see the seam stitches). You are meant to SNIP a few of the visible basting stitches with small sharp scissors and pull out the stitches. The label will come right off. You will not see or "feel" any evidence of this basting thread once it's gone. btw, this is also true of high end wool coats. You will find the pockets are "basted" shut with thread. Not a design flaw...just protective. 2nd pro-tips I washed these gaiters in a big bowl in the kitchen sink, using a special care liquid soap for wool (Eucalan) and dried them flat. I would NEVER toss them in the washing machine and dryer. They are so small that they are easy to hand wash. Then they will last for a very long time.

Reversible is not Practical

In practicality this is non reversible with multiple labels sticking out. These Labels also rub on neck making it uncomfortable. Current age is of printed labels. A good stuff made unuseable due to a simple but overlooked flaw.

Great protection

I recently purchased the Smartwool Thermal Merino Reversible Neck Gaiter, and overall, I’m really impressed with its performance. The merino wool material is incredibly soft and does a great job of keeping me warm in chilly conditions. On particularly cold days, the gaiter feels a bit thin. While it still offers some protection, I find myself wishing for a little extra insulation to keep me comfortable when temperatures drop. Despite this minor issue, I still reach for the gaiter regularly because of its comfort and style. Overall, it’s a solid choice for anyone looking for a reliable neck gaiter for most outdoor activities.

Fits very tight

I really liked the thickness of the fabric for use in cold, windy weather, but this thing is super tight/small. You really have to have a small head if you intend to use this as a face covering, etc. I put it on when I got it home and had an instant headache because it was so tight. Shame because it seems like a nice piece otherwise. When I returned it, I was directed to the Buff Move. It's thinner, but it's also longer so you can double it up and get basically the same material thickness as the Smartwool.

WAY too tight

Had one of these that I loved, but it was a few years old and a little threadbare, so I bought this new one. The old one fit comfortably, but the new one is so tight I feel like it's strangling me. Hoping it might loosen up with use, I've worn it about a dozen times, but it's just as tight as the day it arrived. My neck is of roughly average size for an adult male, I think. Did I get a reject? Very disappointing. Probably will need to find a small child to give it to.

Practical, functional, quality Smartwool accessory

I purchased the Smartwool neck gaiter based on others that I own. I like wearing the itch free 100% merino due to the wicking and quick dry properties. I use the neck gaiter as its intended purpose and also as a headband by folding it. Another nice feature is that it is 2 sided, a pattern on one side and solid on the other. Good addition for 3 season wear.

Doesn’t let a sliver of cold in

This gaiter is really a nice size and shape. I have a smallish head size and so most gaiters are too wide and won’t stay up around my face. This is perfect as a soft neck scarf or to pull up around the face when out in the cold. Colors are slightly but pleasantly heathery. Comforting and protective layer.

light and warm and comfortable - I sometimes have issues with wool feeling itchy after several hours of wear, and I do find that with this buff (unlike the smart wool thermal merino gloves which I can wear all day) - not quite as much stretch as I'd like and is a tight fit pulling on

Too tight and wet

Not as great as I was hoping. Purchased for boarding in negative degree weather. It was warm until it got wet. The two layers got wet really quickly and even though it's wool it didn't dry fast at all! Even after being inside for lunch. Also quite tight so hard to move up and down while boarding.

Can't wait to wear this again tomorrow!

Headed out after purchase on 4mi hike in 40 deg, windy conditions. Extremely comfortable and warm with this gaiter. Was concerned about possible breathing condensation, but it was not a problem. Smartwool never disappoints.
