Very comfortable boot for wider feet!
I purchased these boots to replace a 14 old year pair of ThirtyTwo boots. I went to the REI store for a boot fitting and was looking for a boot for wider feet and these boots were recommended. They felt so good when I put them on! I put them to the test a week later. They were extremely comfortable. The only reason I gave these boots four stars is because they do not fit in my bindings as well as my old boots. A boot typically got stuck in the front binding and it was hard to strap in. This was not a deal breaker for me, especially given I'm in the process of slowly replacing all my gear which is also 14 years old. If you are interested in this boot, I would recommend bringing your snowboard to make sure your boot fits in the binding well.
Disappointing Experience…
I recently purchased the DC Lotus snowboarding boots from REI and, after using them three times, I regret to say that I am quite disappointed with my purchase. While these boots do offer ample toe room, this is unfortunately the only positive aspect I can highlight. The primary issue I encountered was with the BOA system. The boots kept loosening on me frequently. I would often find the BOA system on the side undone right after getting off the lifts, and even mid-run, I had to stop multiple times to tighten both BOA systems on each boot. This constant need for adjustment was not only frustrating but also disrupted my snowboarding experience. There is also a strap inside the boot designed to tighten around the calf, which I initially thought was a great feature. However, this strap would sometimes become excessively tight, causing discomfort. Conversely, the top part of the boot around my shin often felt too loose, especially when I leaned forward for my toe turns. As someone who prefers a tighter fit for better control and responsiveness, this inconsistency in tightness was quite problematic. In summary, while the DC Lotus snowboarding boots have a spacious toe area, the frequent loosening of the BOA system, the inconsistent tightness around the calf and shin, and the overall lack of a secure fit make these boots unsuitable for my needs. I hope this feedback helps potential buyers make an informed decision and encourages the brand to address these issues in future designs.
