For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Flexible and comfortable shoe. Seems a little wide in toe box but I need to wear extra socks anyway because there are no half sizes available in larger sizes.
Just completed 8 days of challenging hiking in the St George and Zion areas. This was in deep sand, rock scrambling, over lava flows, up canyons, some caves and into snow and mud. This was the first chance I had to "use" the La Sportiva's. Up hill or down they worked. They are light and were comfortable all day. The fit was great. I don't know what else they could have done better. I highly recommend getting a pair.
The boots got burned along with our house in the Eaton Fire. Based on the initial try-on/walk around the house, they were comfortable, the toe box/front of boot was roomier than my identical sized Sportiva hiking shoes.
This boot was my size but fit is terrible. Should have bought Merrell. It broke my big toenail.
