Gaiter design unable to fit winter boots
These gaiters seem to be incredibly durable where it's needed and the calf section is pliable and comfortable. Sizing is the downfall for 2 reasons: 1) The distance from the back of the gaiter to the strap is ~3.5", which is about 2" short on my 3 season "mid" boots and at least 3" short on my insulated winter boots with the larger heel cup and crampon nubs. I am able to use them with my 3 season boots but the strap barely catches the notch and almost just slips off. 2) More importantly, Not only do they not anchor to the insulated winter boot, the higher calf section and girth with insulation means the tight upper is incompatible. I found the sizing is true (only if you don't have a boot on your calf). This means that this gaiter is not compatible for winter activities if you are wearing a winter boot. That being said, I will be using this in mud season and seeking trail-less peaks with my 3 season boots as they feel great and the lower portion is robust and able to take some knocks.
Great Gaiter
I bought my gaiters two years ago and are they are great, lots of miles. I use them for upland bird hunting. The zipper front is the best, other gaiters have Velcro, those get filled with seeds and weeds. I had an issue with one at the end of the season, forget what it was. Communicated with Hillsound, said send it back, I did and same was replaced. This company stands behind their product. Tim Port Ludlow WA USA
5 Stars!
Perfect lightweight gaiter yet protective and breathable. I have tried other brands in the past and these are my all-time favorite! Other brands I have had issues with gaiters loosening up and falling down on long hikes. The zipper on these is great keeps them comfortable and in place. Would highly recommend these.
They work :)
Got these to "upgrade" from an old loose fitting pair. With these, when measuring your calf, wear winter pants and or shell, unless your getting a pair for each season. Then add an inch, you want them "just" snug. Naturally when I first tried them on, I had the foot strap buckles on the inside of the leg 🙄😆.
Hunters avoid
They seem like a quality piece of kit for hiking but are they ever loud! The little beads around the ankle if you rub your ankles together ate insanely loud. Your never going to sneak up to an Elk wearing these things. To bad, other than that I do like them but as a hunter theh are a big waste of money!
Great for snowy conditions
My first time with Hillsound gaiters and I am so impressed. These have mastered the adjustable fit and do not slide or move around during activity. They are exceptionally water resistant & insulated and have performed very well in deep Montana snow. I would highly recommend!
Don’t buy it!
After five years of use (ice climbing and mountaineering) and my MEC Kokanee Gaiters are still functioning. After one day of ice climbing my Super Armadilloâ„¢ Gaiter fall apart. Fabric on lower part of gaiter is very weak. I would not give even one star if I could.
My go-to gaiter
I use these for summer and winter hiking and scrambling around BC. The breathable fabric is a great improvment on my last pair that were made of a heavier material. These do the job 10x better without the excess material and weight. 5/5 for these awesome gaiters!
Great Gaiters
Great for all-weather conditions, these gaiters perform well in snow, rain, and mud. The adjustability ensures that they stay in place and the upward angle of the lace hook keeps them from popping free during wear.
Good quality& Durable
This is my husbands second pair in 8yrs. He has larger calfs and these fit great, he also prefers the zipper over the Velcro
