Good quality bag, with some design flaws

Good quality bag, all parts appear to be well made. 85 liter size is perfect, big enough for everything, not too big to handle. But I have some issues with its design... 1) Only a top end handle, NO side handle. There is a reason every other bag has a side handle. Now I have to use the included back straps to handle the bag. Speaking of the straps... 2) The straps are designed as if someone wants to carry the thing as a backpack. Seriously, it has wheels. 3) Because of the straps, which can be stowed away in a hidden pocket, the top flap hinges on the top-end. That means I have to zip two long sides and a short side to fully open the bag. You wonder why every other bag is designed open to the side. 4) Interior buckle straps are kind of weird cross pattern. They just made things complicated.

I fell in love with this suitcase in the store so I went online read the reviews (which were pretty much all 4 & 5 stars) and purchased 2, one each for my husband and me for an upcoming trip. My main issue is that it opens at the bottom instead of the top like most bags of this style, and should you want to add or retrieve an item you can't just pop open the top. You have to lay the case down flat because if you unzip from the bottom up your items will fall out! I didn't realize this until my suitcase was packed and I struggled with it all throughout the multiple stops. I should have returned them immediately but we didn't have time to get another pair.

Perfect for hiking trip to Patagonia

This piece of luggage was perfect for carrying two sets of hiking poles safely on the bottom and packing cubes for a 25 day trip to Patagonia. Easy to pull on multiple surfaces and also easy to fit in rental car with other luggage.

Really, really stupid design feature.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really, really stupid design feature. While thew duffel is very well made, there is something bad about it that I can't believe they would do. The entire front of the duffel unzips on 3 sides but the side that doesn't is at the top when the unit is upright, THE OPEN END IS AT THE BOTTOM! That means that if the unit is upright and you want to slip some last minute item into the duffel, or take something out, you have to lay the whole case down flat, on a dirty airport floor or everything will spill out when you unzip. DUMB DUMB DUMB don't they try their own products before they sell them?

Outstanding Duffel 85

I bought two recently with an eye on a holiday in Oman. I used them on a test run to Malta last week. Have to say they are superb, rugged and well made they are able to carry plenty of kit for a couple of weeks of holiday. I particularly like that you can use them as a suitcase and then a back pack if necessary thanks to the built in straps. Very happy customer.

Wheelie Good

Only managed one trip so far and it served me very well. Plenty of space for a 10-day trip. Managed to fit my hiking boots and all the gear I needed and still had space to squeeze in a puffa jacket for the journey home. Very sturdy when dragged across cobbled streets, gravel tracks and airport lounges.

Not suitable for serious “adventure” trips to out of the way places

I really like Osprey bags but this light-weight bag is not suitable for trips where it is going to get any kind of abuse. On my trip to Northern Pakistan the bag was seriously damaged when the luggage of other members of my group survived unscathed. Sadly I’ve thrown the bag away.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This wheeled travel bag is well designed and constructed. It is not too big or too small, just right. Osprey makes great gear.

Not sure the design works

After one use the bag is torn at the corner where the metal frame is.
