best of the bunch
These are very good flat pedals, reasonably priced (especially after the member rebate or a member discount), that would work for most road or gravel riding including commuting. They are much better than the comparable alternatives that we are familiar with. Some of the flat Look pedals have a vibram-like layer. These don't. The layer, which does not last forever, typically doubles the cost and adds considerably to the weight but does improve the grip. So far I have used these four times in dry weather and the grip has been very good. The foot support is very good. There is no reason to believe they will not be durable and long-lasting. These don't have the mountain-biking spikes (probably a better word for them) that dig into the soft bottom of mountain-biking shoes but cause damage to other kinds of shoes. These go on not with a pedal wrench but rather with a hex wrench via the opposite side of the crank. You will need to have one of those at hand. Far as I can tell, these don't have indicators for right and left. (Your right foot goes on the right pedal, your left foot, on the left.) Here's how you can tell: Hold the pedals in front of you with the threaded shafts up. The threads on the right pedal go up and to the right. The threads on the left pedal go up and to the left. The weight is exactly what it should be (I checked).
