Great Comfortable Hydration Belt

This is a great hydration belt for running and cross country skiing. The water bottle is centered in the middle which allows the bottle to be accessed from either side (it's not as convenient as one that is angled, but the bottle is still plenty accessible on the run). The bottle itself is small, but includes a rubber cover to keep dirt out. The belt easily accommodates the bigger Camelbak bottles, and still feels well balanced, so if you need a larger water capacity this still works great. The belt includes four large pockets that can hold a large phone and food in addition to a key holder. In addition, it is a comfortable belt, with breathable "mesh" on the area that is in contact with your back and an unobtrusive buckle.

Not as comfortable as I expected.

I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I am not sure what activity this CamelBak Hydration Belt designed for, but in trying it for both trail running and hiking, I found it not optimal for either. It carries a lot of gear, but the large pockets curve around your waist which makes it difficult for one handed zipper operation. The webbed belt is easy to adjust, but uncomfortably rubs when appropriately tightened and the water bottle should have been a soft sided one so it does not rub against your back.

Could Almost Replace A Day Pack!

This is the first hydration belt I’ve owned and used. I do remember when they used to be called “fanny packs”, though. What I noticed first of all is how much larger this one is than the ones I used to see. There’s a lot of space in the pouches, so you can carry a lot of stuff. I especially like the way the pouches have organization sub-pouches inside, so you don’t have to dig around looking for things. I knew from the description that the water bottle was small, only 21 ounces. That wouldn’t be enough for me even for a day hike, unless it was a short one. My purpose for this item was a sort of front pack; wearing it up front with my pack on the back. I have trouble reaching things in the pack I use for overnight and longer hikes, and was looking for something to hold stuff I would need as I hike, up front where I could more easily reach. It’s good at holding things, like map(s), compass, phone and/or camera and such, with a small bottle of water I could get to. It’s really a little too large for that purpose, unfortunately. Gets in the way up front, but works pretty well in back. It’s a great addition to my little day hike pack, and I’m really happy with that.

Great for hikes

This is a great portable waist pack for short adventures. Pockets fit major necessities like keys, phone, and wallet with a lot of room left to spare. The water bottle in the middle is 21 oz. Would recommend for short hikes or short bike rides. Does not fit properly for runs. The water bottle is not easy to pull out and rubs against back (does not feel comfortable). Great for outdoor adventures with children since it holds the essential snacks, diapers, and wipes.

Great storage for long runs

Couple options for wearing the pack. Slightly higher, like how you would wear a backpacking pack, on the top of your hip bone. This keeps the pack from hitting or sitting on the top of your glutes. Or lower, like wear most pants fit these days around the pivot point of your hips. The lower position squeezes your stomach less, but you now may not like the pack resting or hitting the top of the glutes. Both positions had very little bounce when the straps were tightened down snuggly. Likely good for leaner people due to wearing a waist pack. For either position, I recommend using an anti chafing product (such as Body Glide or other brand) to avoid chaffing between the waist pack and interactions with your shorts or shirt. Again, this will depend on how much time and distance you’re traveling with the pack. Excellent storage capacity for long distance fueling, and first aid stuff. Nice to have the organization pouches available in the larger zipper pockets. Gels and other foods fit well in them, and the left pouch has a clip for keys too. Only one water bottle, 21 oz. So you have fuel for a significant distance but you’ll need to make stops for water. For my long distance training runs and ultra races, I prefer the vest style hydration systems. They typically have at least 70 oz and the room to carry fuel and gear for a long distance without stopping.

Finally, a Hydration Belt with Storage!

This hydration belt is a good size and has great pockets large enough for my phone, keys and a snack. I don't like how small the water bottle is (only 21 ounces) but thankfully the insert for the bottle is large enough for me to substitute a larger sized bottle. Having the bottle situated in the middle is much more comfortable for me as I find that I'm not hitting the bottle with my poles at each stride. I do wish the bottle was situated at a slight angle though as I was finding it a bit awkward to access. I appreciate how comfortable the pack is especially with the mesh breathable side which provides good ventilation. Overall I'm happy with this belt and will take this on my shorter day hikes.

I liked my old one

I liked my old one so much that I'm replacing it with the same pack after a mouse chewed it up looking for a granola bar that was left in it during the off season. There is a surprisingly large amount of space. I can carry both a small first aid kit for me (including a SAM splint) and the bike (extra tube, tools, and CO2 cartridges) in this pack. I combine this pack with a water bottle on the bike for longer rides, and I haven't found myself lacking water on a ride yet (sub 20 mile mtb rides.) Really comfortable on rides, and feels secure.

Great pack that holds more than it would seem

It's hard to truly gauge how much this pack can hold based on the pictures. I rarely ride without a small first aid kit, sam splint and bike repair kit, and this can hold all of it plus snacks and more. I still haven't maxed it out! I rarely notice it's there when I'm riding. Super comfortable, and really breathable. So much better than a backpack. Combined with a bottle on the bike, I have enough water for all but the longest rides. I put a small knock on quality because the decals on the bottle were peeling when it arrived. Doesn't affect the performance at all, but I had to scrub it really well before using it because the decals were coming off in flakes and sticking to everything. I have a spare bottle that doesn't have this issue, so it seems something made it past quality control.

Great for dog-walking and hiking!

Lots of room in this thing for what I wanted it for, which was walking my high-energy dog in the Texas heat. Now I can clip on her leash, her collapsible water bowl, and my keys if I want. And I can put treats, my phone, my license and debit card, and my sunglasses in the pockets. I also took this to the Ren Faire in the blazing heat, and it was a godsend to have a water bottle I didn't have to carry with my hands.

My new favorite waist pack.

My new favorite waist pack. Remains close to body w/o need to make extra-tight to prevent bouncing. Stable bottle holder. Separation of zippered pockets allows big iPhone in one pouch w/o clutter or scratch risks. Benefit of phone in its own pocket is that, when frequently checking navigation or athletic data, user won’t be concerned about dropping & losing stuff.
