Love these boots! I started wearing these straight out of the box for my 2 week trip to Iceland. From city walks to hiking through snow, ice and creeks, these boots kept me warm, dry and comfortable. The GoreTex upper works extremely well, even when my foot got submerged in water. The traction was great for hiking up into the highlands and around the city. And the cushioning/materials kept my feet comfy and dry all day. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a versatile boot.
I bought 6 pair of boots to try on for Alaska and these are the only ones I kept. These are goretex and lightweight which i prefer, they seemed to be waterproof after a few rainy hikes, but even after one trail the black pair I bought are already discolored for good so I gave up trying to wash them. They stayed comfortable after a 30k step day and took no breaking in which is great. I recommend sizing up a half size. I wish they were a tad less boxy in the toe where they feel too spacious for me. I hope these last or will be disappointed in the price tag
Absolutely love these hiking boots. First time switching up from Hoka Trail Runners (for hiking) and I’m stoked. I had zero issues with them. Very comfortable, great grip, they’re waterproof so you can wear year round & they have great ankle support.
These are the lightest yet sturdiest and most comfortable hiking shoes I’ve ever worn! They are nice and wide in the toe box, have a well-cushioned sole and good ankle support. Looking forward to wearing them on the West Highland Way in Scotland in a couple of weeks.
Recently bought these boots, and hiked 10 miles this past weekend. These boots were comfortable and very light weight. These trails were uneven, muddy and rocky. I crossed a few creeks with no issues. I am a clumsy hiker and not once did I feel my ankle went unsupported. I definitely would recommend these boots! I can’t wait to try them on a 14er this summer.
Appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us!
I got it 4 days before the trip to Peru, so I didn’t have time to break in. I was in the Inka trail 4 days, went through steep rocky roads, jungle, light rain and so much more but these shoes was so comfortable, and perfect waterproof. Love it
We are happy to know you had a great experience.
OBSESSED is an understatement for these shoes! I absolutely love these boots, they are so comfortable. I got them for a few hiking trips I had coming up and they did not disappoint. No breaking in necessary ready to wear right out of the box. My old Merrill’s were bulky and heavy but these are so comfortable and light. Did an 8 to 10 mile hike in them back to back no problem. Definitely recommend will not disappoint. Water proof, kept my feet dry during the rainy season hikes I did. Also the color is super cute, I got the grey ones and they matched with everything.
Great shoe! It’s been in the Arizona desert and tropical island of Madeira, Portugal. Recommend going a half size bigger though!
Thank you for the awesome review!
I love these Merrells. They are sturdy, stable and feel like a running shoe. This is my 3rd pair. I have these also in a wide and is a low quarter version. I use them for hiking, dog walking in the rain and snow and walking around our land. I have used them in pouring rain and my feet stayed dry. I dont think they are sturdy enough for heavy backpacking but for a light day pack, no problem. Size wise I usually wear a 9.5 in running and training shoes and I ordered a 10 in these and they were good. I prefer the wide version though as it gives me just a bit more toe box room, not necessarily extra width but roomier. I am hoping these will break in enough to be as comfortable as the wider version. But a great comfortable boot overall.
For an upcoming strenuous, 11-day hiking trip in Switzerland, I need a pair of waterproof boots with ankle support. My last ankle boots were REI brand and they've been discontinued. I was hoping to find some Oboz that would work b/c I have some Oboz light hikers that I like. In the past, I've also liked Vasque boots but REI doesn't seem to carry those anymore. All my past boots have in common that they have a roomy toe box, which I need because of a bunion at the base of my right great toe. The young lady who helped me in the Dublin store was very knowledgable and brought me about 6 pairs that fit my needs, including some Oboz and some more traditional looking Merrells. I struggled to decide between the traditional Merrells and these Moab Speed 2 boots. In the end, I went with the Moab Speed 2s. My first hike out, my feet felt hot and I was worried that the GoreTex was not breathable enough. Also, both my feet seemed to be swimming a bit in these size 8 shoes. (My street shoe size is usually 7.5 or sometimes 7). I tightened the laces quite a bit, so much that there is some puckering in the upper. In subsequent hikes including two times up and down Mt. Diablo - a 12 mile hike with some very steep sections and varied terrain including dirt, gravel, pavement, rocks, mud, running water, limestone, and sand. The boot performed great!! I have tried thinner and thicker socks and have not had any hot spots or blisters. No rubbing either. The top of my foot is not bothered by the tighter lacing, and I am still able to keep the toe box roomy for my bunion. Also, my feet have not been hot again after that first time. The tread had very good traction in varied conditions. Best of all, the boot is really light for its size. It feels more like a trail runner, but still has plenty of ankle support. I'm very happy with these boots. They are a great addition to my collection.
