I bought this to tromp around Alaska in because it was marketed as waterproof. I didn’t have to “break them in” and they held up well keeping my feet dry. I did submerge my feet in some streams and they did get a little wet but dried quickly. The grips are really good too.

Not my favorite Hokas
Ali
I bought these at the REI flagship store in NYC on vacation because the sneakers I was wearing got soaked in the rain. I thought they'd be perfect for putting on the miles in the city. I was wrong. They're downright dangerous. The protrusion of the sole at the heal is different than other Hokas, and gets caught on stairs that have a slight overhang. Nearly wiped out several times. Had to go down subway steps sideways. This seems like a design flaw. They're also way too cushy for me, and my feet slide around in them even though the length is good. I love my Hoka Challengers and Cliftons, but these are total miss.

These are NOT waterproof!

I bought these sneakers in April after purchasing and enjoying a pair of the regular Hoka Transport which were recommended by an REI staff member for my Camino de Santiago. I thought it wise to have two pairs of shoes that I could using for the Camino and the added benefit of a waterproof version of the Transport would be a good choice. I broke in and trained in the GTX and went off on my trip in mid-May. The first day of hiking was in the rain and it only took a few minutes for me to feel water coming through the toe box of the GTX. These are clearly NOT waterproof (as advertised) and I ended up returning them when I returned from my trip.

The best shoes ever... a must have

I just got back from a trip to Ireland and it was cols, wet and rainy part of the time. I've also had multiple foot surgeries, and the Hoka transports saved my life. My feet never once hurt, or were cold, and we did miles of walking every single day. I'm 62 years old and in good shape, it was such a blessing to have these shoes. I got my regular size which is 9.5. Also a super huge shout out to the REI in Fort Worth Texas for spending so much time with me to find the perfect shoe for my trip.

Runs large and drawstring broke

I bought these in pink in my usual size -7. The were too roomy and a bit large, however, a 6.5 was too tight for one of my feet. Overall they were cushy and if they fit better, I could see them being great for walking around all day. The pink scuffs easily. Also, I was using the pull string, not the shoelaces, and it broke in less than 2 weeks of owning the shoes. Really disappointing for the price of the shoe. I have owned Salomon's with that lace system and they did not snap off over the 7 years of heavy use they got.

Great everyday and travel shoe -- for all conditio

Wore the Hoka transport GTX on a 2 week visit to southern Italy this month. We walked around 8-10 miles a day, city and country, streets and trails. These shoes are incredibly awesome! So comfortable -- I felt like I could walk forever. They also look pretty nice! Currently my favorite shoe

Disappointed

I love the color, but these were not my favorite Hokas! I took them to Zion to go hiking with, but broke them in Vegas first. They hurt my feet, and I even sized up 1/2 size. Had to return them.

Comfortable shoe, low quality build

I bought this shoe to replace an old pair of Salomons, and after 3 weeks, the pull on the shoe broke. I had read that Salomon had been sold out, resulting in a decrease in quality, and HOKAs were started by one of the founders of Salomon. I also like the quick pull system on my shoes. I bought a 7 which was much larger than all of my other shoes, but the 6.5 was too small for one of my feet. If I'm paying $175 for a pair of shoes, they should not break after walking in them for less than 20 miles and owning them for 3 weeks.

Good in theory, not so much in practice

Pros: surprisingly waterproof for how thin the waterproof layer is, comes in fun colors, easy on and off for those with joint issues thanks to the speed laces. Cons: Runs long yet narrow from the mid foot forward, which makes sizing difficult. Definitely designed for walking more than running and not the comfiest hokas I’ve tried due to less responsive cushioning.
