I bought these to use in wet, muddy Norway and purchased them in October 2024. So far they haven't held up well at all in everyday activities and hikes/runs ranging from 10-30km. The pros include that they are a good looking trail running shoe, they are great for my wide feet, and are comfortable for even longer hikes 30km+ (no blisters or overly-achy feet). However, the cons are overwhelming - a hole has already appeared in the upper, the treads are worn (much lower than I'd have expected for a few months of regular use), traction is extremely bad on wet rock/ice, the laces loosen constantly, and feet do get rather hot and sweaty. Really disappointed, will likely not be coming back to North Face again when it comes to trail running shoes. I previously wore Altra Lone Peaks, and running those into the ground took at least a year and a half. Really expected more out of these shoes. (I also mistakenly wrote this review on the Offtrail TR shoes, but I did actually buy the ones with Gore-Tex in the hopes that it would offer better protection against the elements - it seems to have not)
They are my everyday shoes. I work outside and walk on different types of terrain. They are comfortable, light, have a lot of grip and the Goretex membrane keeps my feet dry.
Traded a pair of Salomon shoes in for these North Face because the Salomon’s wore blisters on my heels. I have owned many pairs of The North Face shoes with great luck and these are by far the most comfortable hiking shoes I’ve ever owned. Unfortunately after wearing these for less than a week the sole started to separate from the shoe. I’m going to return them to REI this week and try another pair hoping that these are the only defected one.
These are high performing trail shoes. They don't slip or slide. They stick to rocks and are great for trail running at high speeds. Right out of the box they feel great. I wear a size 12 and they fit true to size. I added a pair of gel insoles just for my own preference and i jump around alot on rocks and these shoes stick well. These are my favorite hiking shoes and i would recommend them to anyone wanting a high performance shoe that's water proof. These shoes are well worth it.
I'm really happy with these. They are comfortable, warm in deep snow, and offer great grip. I don't regret getting these over the similar shoes with the BOA. The laces are robust and I've had issues with my last few BOA-enabled trail shoes. I'm looking forward to putting these to good use in the mountains all winter long. Oh, and they look great. Lots of comments the other day when I wore them around town after a run.
Comfortable predictable fit. Normal TNF sizing. Lower volume toe box. Sole has rocker profile similar to Vectiv Pro 2. Stays tied single knot all day. Firm flex. Hard sole will be long lasting though not as grippy on glacier & stream polished rocks. Lugs have good grip on soil. Stays dry all day in the alpine. General impression is that these are well constructed and will be long lasting. Easily clean up like new.
I needed a pair of waterproof shoes to hike in Alaska and run in cold weather and these don't disappoint. I took them on a quick hike through some snow and my feet were dry and warm (Good socks help too). I went to Japan and ran 5 miles and they were very comfortable and no sorry spots at all. I like the unique colors they have too.
Extremely comfortable straight out of the box. Very stable on trails. The rocker in the sole makes them a natural for street walking too. Fairly bulky for packing, not really crushable. Style is great too! Tried in different colors, went with the low key black and khaki. My first TNF shoes, will definitely buy more.
Heel is starting to peel after < 100km. Tread is great fits is great, the insoles are weird your foot can push out the material so you're sitting on empty insole space as it doesn't wrap up in the toe box.
I've been wearing these shoes for about 2 weeks now. They are so comfortable. Kept my feet dry in the rain.
