Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Almost a great jacket, falls slightly short.
For fall hikes to see some foliage, maybe do some apple picking, the weight and material of this jacket is very nice. It keeps me much warmer than I would expect and is quite lightweight. I want to give this a better review, however, the major downside is the sizing. I am taller (about 6'1") and size L usually fits me well but this jacket was a bit too short in length (the sleeves are fine, though). There is a drawstring to sinch the jacket along the waist but that almost makes it more awkward... Pocket-wise there are just the two pockets for the hands which is fine but would be great if there was a pocket on the inside for sunglasses, etc. Love the cozy material but am thinking size XL would be too big if this is how the L measures up.
Basic Warm Jacket
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. Great basic jacket that will keep you warm. I typically wear a S but decided to get M so that I can wear layers underneath as I camp often in the Eastern Sierras. I was hiking with temps in the 30’s with just a t-shirt & jacket and was too hot. I didn’t do a direct comparison but I would say it’s about as warm as the nano puff. It’s a no frills jacket so don’t expect any extra features but it does what you need it to.
Fits Like a Glove
This is a very well fitting, highly packable, and functionally diverse jacket/coat. As someone who is a lanky 6'5" tall, finding sleeves long is a difficult task, however this jacket in a size Medium offers not only sleeves down to my wrists but a jacket that is loose enough to add layers underneath but snug enough to wear as the only top layer and still work great. On a few cool weather hikes I wore this over a very thin merino wool layer and was more than warm enough with temps in the 40s. It only became too warm when traversing up hills in full sun above the mid-50s. At that point, it reduces its body size in a backpack, being compressed and compacted down into a highly packable parcel. With large zipper pockets and a full hood, this jacket is a welcome addition to any outdoor arsenal.
Great layer, but check for fit.
This is a great light jacket or mid-layer for a good price. Basically what you'd expect from a "puffy" style zip-up; somewhat water resistant, good warmth-to-weight, and generally quite comfortable. My only issue is the shape/fit. I'm tall and thin with an athletic build (6'3", 185lbs), and this jacket fits pretty loosely in the body (size L). Might see how the M fits, as I want it for layering under a shell, and I think it would bunch to much considering the above.
Not meant for the trail.
Purchased this to replace a buggered zipper on my old (purchased in 2023) REI Flash insulated hoodie. I got the latter on clearance for my AT thru hike and it was the BEST and most reliable article of clothing we took. Lightweight, layerable and quick drying. Also had stretch fabric on the underside of arm for comfortable movement. Today I purchased the Trailmade Insulated Hoodie and so disappointed in many ways. It’s hard to compete with the Flash, but come on. It looks like a fashion hoodie with no thought to fit and length. It’s bulky and hot. I am normally a medium, yet this one is huge and boxy. If my neck was just 3” longer, I wouldn’t have 3” of space on top of my head when using the hood. There is no hood drawstring or tightening method so that part is unusable. There is no chest pocket to place quick grab items, like cell phone or glasses. It was certainly not meant for the trail. Overall, I will return and take my Flash to a tailor to replace the zipper.
My New Favorite Fall “Go To” Coat!
Great color and perfect weight for those chilly days, when you don’t need a heavy coat. This jacket has a nice feel and seems to be a little more durable other models. It’s has synthetic insulation and is machine washable. It will keep you warm even when it gets damp. It is a great camping and work coat.
Pleasantly Suprised
I originally wanted to purchase a Patagonia Nano Puff hoody, but those, even on sale are overpriced. I’ve purchased REI equipment on and off since becoming a member a long long time ago. This particular jacket is a simple design and a functional fit. The weight is a little heavier than a Nano Puff, and in my opinion, it’s warmer below 40F. For the money, you can’t beat the warmth and the fit.
Awesome insulated jacket
Great fit & protection from cold.
Warm
Warm, great fit, nice materials. Nice heavier duty zippers. Great price. 5’10, 210 lbs, XL fits great. Recommended and would purchase again.
Nice jacket!
I got this jacket for 40% off and I love it. The only thing I can think of that would make it better is a drawstring on the hood. It looks good and fits well and is warm.
