I received these shoes on August 12th, and I’ve been using them as my daily runners for the last month. I’ve put over 50 miles into these shoes, and I have to say that I really am in love with them. From the side, these shoes look really tall, but compared to some of the other running shoes on the market today, they are relatively low to the ground. This is a positive for me--I prefer a less sloppy feel while running. These shoes feel very grounded and stable throughout the stride. Other running shoes I’ve tried (taller shoes with a softer sole) have felt almost squishy under my feet, and less stable when turning. Not these. They are the perfect balance between cushion and feel. I’ve tried On running shoes before, and my experience was that they fit a little big. I’m consistently between an 11.5 and a 12. Last time I tried On, I ordered a 12, and I regretted it. The shoe significantly buckled at the base of the laces--enough that I could feel the shoe material digging into the top of my foot. This time, I ordered the 11.5, and the fit is really perfect. There’s still plenty of room for my toes, and the shoe doesn’t buckle enough to cause discomfort. The midsole feels held securely in place. When I first put the shoes on, I felt the slightest heel slip, but using the heel lock lacing (with the extra eyelets provided) took care of this completely. These shoes fit great. The shoes also feel faster than some other shoes I’ve tried. I’m not sure how much that is only about “feel” and how much is rooted in reality. I can say I set my 10k PR and my 10-mile PR in these shoes. That could be the result of increased training. Or maybe the shoes have something to do with it. I will say that for me, white shoes will not stay white long. I spend some time running rail trails, and the gravel and dirt have left an irrevocable mark. But that doesn’t bother me in the least. Overall, I’m very glad I got these shoes. I’ll be using them until they wear out, and I’ll probably simply replace them with another pair when that happens. Thank you, On!
For me, these shoes strike the perfect balance between running and daily use. The cushioning is "just right"—not too soft and not too firm—offering excellent support without feeling overly squishy or too stiff. I found the lacing system straightforward and easy to adjust, and the slight asymmetric design helps the uppers fit snugly. One of my favorite features is the semi-rounded sole, which creates a smooth transition with each step, making push-offs feel natural and effortless. Despite being classified as a standard-width shoe, there’s plenty of room for my foot to breathe, offering more space than narrower brands I’ve tried. This extra width, combined with the shoe's excellent breathability, keeps my feet cool, even during intense runs. Overall, these shoes provide a great blend of comfort, support, and breathability, making them an excellent all-around choice for many runners.
I am definitely not a big road runner, but was wanting to find a shoe that was comfortable and bouncy to try to get me outside more. There are not only comfortable, true to size, and stylish, they are incredibly bouncy and took maybe three runs to break them in. I have used them from daily walks with my dog, shorter 2-4 mile runs a few times a week, and even in my neighborhood pickleball league. Have the white version which does seem better to black, but they do seem to be a little warmer in the feet than others. That's the only downside I've found. I will definitely buy another pair next year!
First off, I am a big fan of the build quality and comfort of On shoes (I also own the Cloudflyer, Cloud 5, Cloudmonster, Cloudstratus, and Cloudrift shoes), but I was a little nervous receiving these shoes as these are my first pair of Ons without the speedboard. I had tried on a pair of the previous generation Cloudsurfers at my local REI from the Used section, and liked the comfort and perceived cush that they offered, but was a little nervous that the cush would come at the expense of stability (these are labeled as a neutral shoe by On, and as a bigger guy, I tend to veer more towards the stable side with my shoes). On Feet thoughts: Since receiving these shoes about a month ago I have worn them pretty heavily and I have to say that I have been pleased with their comfort so far. While far from offering a locked in feel in the heel, the cloudphase cushioning provides a nice firm cushion, as opposed to the walking on marshmallows sensation that I have sometimes felt when wearing Hokas. Compared to my Cloudmonsters, I would definitely say that the fit and comfort is vastly improved, but I have been able to notice the absence of the speedboard as they don't feel quite as springy as the other On shoes I own (not that this is a bad thing, as this actually makes them more comfortable for everyday wear), but I imagine this would make these shoes more suitable for casual or recovery runs (in addition to wearing around town) than some of the other options from On. The midsole and cushioning has held up well, although the cloudphase cushioning definitely shows more creasing than the Cloudtec cushioning (although some of this could simply be due to the white foam showing all the wrinkles). While the cloudphase midsole was much firmer than I expected when I first put them on, it has not softened up anywhere near as much as I feared it would so they still provide decently firm cushion and have only gotten more comfortable as they have broken in. Materials: I have to say that I love the fit and feel up the uppers on these shoes. The lining on the shoes is, as with most On shoes, a big step above the offerings from other brands, and the cut of the opening at the ankle on these shoes is a bit wider and more comfortable than my Cloudmonsters. While I wouldn't describe these shoes as an overly wide fit, the toe box does feel a little roomier than some of the other On shoes, which was very much welcomed as someone with a slightly wider forefoot. The white upper (I have the White/Flame colorway) definitely shows the dirt and grime after a month of heavy wear, but there is a slight heathering to the material that actually does a decent job of disguising dirt and grime. The material used for the body of the shoe has held up well and I haven't noticed any unusual wear as they seem to have used different weaves/material to seamlessly reinforce high wear areas. I also did not experience any hot spots or discomfort when breaking these shoes in. The lacing system definitely does a much better and more comfortable job at locking my foot in (some of the comfort is undoubtedly due to the plush tongue) and help these shoes to mold to my foot way better than the Cloudmonsters with no real hotspots of discomfort while breaking these shoes in. Also, while this is kind of low on the priority list for shoes, I have to say that I like the look and profile of the shoes. I also like the fact that the outsoles have a bit more rubber coverage than some of the other On shoes, and the closed channel is a very welcome change as it is much less prone to getting rocks, twigs, or dog doo jammed up in the channel (I have definitely spent way more time cleaning dog poo out of the cloud cushioning on my other On shoes, so I am a BIG fan of the closed channel on these shoes for that reason alone). All in all, these shoes definitely
To start, I am not a marathon runner. I have a bad back and this review is based off of a 5k runner and an avid walker. These shoes are super comfortable right from the start. They did not need a break in period for me. I have not gotten any blisters or rubbing either. If you are looking for nice soft landings with each stride than these are for you, but if you want "ground feel" then these are not for you. When I wear these shoes I don't have as much foot fatigue and when you step on a rogue rock in the road you don't feel it. They are literally so soft. While I do feel they deserve 5 stars I have some words of caution. 1) they are tall and you might feel unstable at first, but this went away quickly. 2) I wear wool ankle socks with the "tab" and these shoes cover the tab, but also didn't cause blisters or rubbing. So it's still a positive review from me. I've worn the shoes for about 3-4 weeks whenever I run, jog, or go on walks and they've been great. The tread is sticky, but not aggressive; so stick to the pavement. Also I think they look better in person than in the photos. The shoe seems well built and feels like it should hold up to quite a bit of mileage. Finally the shoe has held up for me in the activities that I listed above and I would recommend it at this point.
These Cloudsurfer are really good. I like the fit, it's very snug but not too tight as I have wide feet. The colors are very nice. I have used it more than handful of times for my afternoon outdoor runs, during my evening walks and also tried it for a run in a well paved trail. So far it feels good and meet my expectations. I had a feeling my feet gets bit too hot in these, maybe due to type of the material used in this shoe. Overall nice and awesome looking shoes for multi-purpose use.
Very comfortable shoe. The base rubber foam is well designed for stiffer cushioning, the tread is very thin and designed for pavement/ light gravel. Breathable design and clever lacing eyelets. In-sole padding is minimal, you will want to swap that out immediately. Shoe design tips you forward at a comfortable and efficient angle. These things are feather-light. Incredible that they are a durable as they are with such little weight.
The material on this shoe is great! Most importantly, on the white/orange model I have, I noticed they offer a lot of reflectivity. This is great for those night runs. They will definitely shine right back at car headlights or under street lamps. These are still new shoes for me but they are holding up real well. The material outside the shoe, inside and even the laces are high quality. I think it will hold up for a long time. This shoe feels great while running! There is plenty of cushion in the heel to absorb the impact (I’m 6 ft 4 in). It does a great job of pushing my legs through the stride too. The arch support is great and I don’t feel like I’m being pushed forward when standing like my other running shoes. Overall, very happy with how this shoe performed.
This review is for the Men's On Cloudsurfer Next road shoes. All in all, these are a pretty comfortable, general purpose road runner. For a normal amount of miles this shoe gets the job done, but I don't know how it would do for long distances as it's a bit more firm than I'd like in cushioning for distance. Also, if you need a shoe for stability, this is not it...it is a very neutral shoe for stability. They're fairly light, fit true to size, and are a good daily runner for short to mid distances.
This is my second pair of On Clouds and they keep getting better. These really feel like a performance sneaker without compromising on comfort, and I can confidently say this will not be my last pair. One of the features that stands out most to me is the heel support. I’ve had issues with other shoes that my heel will slip, causing rubbing. These sneakers offer an exceptional fit, and support without having to overtighten the laces. Now about the laces. My previous pair of on cloud, the laces seemed excessively long. It may be something, rather consequential, but even the laces on the shoe are great. Well, I am far from a marathon runner, I am a father of two young children who spends quite a bit of time running after them. Not only do these shoes perform like I would expect, But the styling fits perfectly into that athleisure group as well. All-around fantastic shoe.
