The best parts are the waterproof function with soft flexible upper materials, and the boost/Continental sole. These make the shoes from good to almost perfect, maybe displacing my Hoka Anacapa shoes. I would recommend adidas to make these in wide widths, as most users tend to wear thick socks to hike in the outdoors. The joint between the upper and the sole sections need to be redesigned for better quality and durability, or this would have been a 5-stars rating review. Also, better color combos would really help the marketing/sales, as the nearby adidas outlet states that the Terrex shoes product line is barely on stock there due to its high-value/pricing.
The good side: Simply beautiful. These shoes are big, comfy, waterproof... and green! I live in central america and I have to deal with rainforests on a daily basis. These shoes are stylish, soft but strong enough to deal with dust, rocks, sticks and stones. I love them. I use them all day long without strains or pain. I suggest to change colors and not always make it white. The negative side: The foam on the sides, when caught on rocks, it eventually peels like an old pool noddle. Dirt gets in the holes and then its hard to clean. Also, crouching lines are permanent too, which lower the value of the shoe in a matter of weeks. Yet. I just bought another pair.
The comfort of boost is quite possible the best out there. These in particular feel more squishy than the ultra boost line maybe due to the fact of the lugs being a lot deeper. Make sure you go half size up as they do come in a little small. These boots are perfect for long hikes and are definitely waterproof. The only slight concern is how long the treat will last. Like the ultra boost range they are made from continental rubber. Incredibly grippy on roads and tracks but not known for its longevity. However I’m expecting at least a year of hard wear before the souls cause any issues
Another fantastic pair of Terrex. Comfortable, good looking, great support.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used these shoes while hiking Hadrian's Wall Path, and they performed great. They are comfortable underfoot and provide excellent grip on rocky and craggy sections. Will they take you up Helvellyn? Probably not. But for walking trails and the occasional scramble, they are more than adequate. The shoes have a springy feel, almost as if they're propelling you forward, even with a fully loaded rucksack. My only complaint is that they don't breathe very well. The GTX lining tends to leave your feet sweaty. However, they do keep your feet dry from rain and flooded patches on the trail, which is a big plus. Overall, I've chuffed I brought these along.
These have to be the comfiest pair of shoes I've had out of the box. Took them for a light break in hike brand new and did a second loop. The width is ideal for my E feet, thick socks make them snug but not uncomfortable. Put them back on over my slip ons to do errands later as well. Versatility seems to be a big strength here. Found the cushion to be more than adequate, they feel rigid enough to give support but are still definitely a shoe. Look forward to doing more technical courses with them and seeing about longevity. One thing in the negative category, both shoes had loose threads and I had to glue down one that was pulling.
The Adidas Terrex Free Hiker GTX is hands down one of the best hiking shoes I’ve used. They’re incredibly comfortable right from the start, with a super cushioned Boost midsole that feels amazing on long hikes. The GORE-TEX lining keeps my feet dry, even during wet conditions, but they’re still breathable so my feet don’t overheat. The Continental rubber outsole provides excellent grip on all kinds of terrain, from rocky paths to muddy trails. I also love how lightweight they feel, yet they’re sturdy and supportive. Whether you're tackling tough trails or just looking for a reliable hiking shoe, these are an excellent choice!
Extremely disappointed with these expensive Gore-Tex Adidas boots. After only three wears, the lace loop closest to the front broke completely, rendering them unusable. This is unacceptable for footwear at this price point. I was hoping these would replace my beloved Terrex Free Hiker Gore-Tex Hiking Shoes, which I've worn almost daily since 2021. Those shoes provided excellent comfort and durability. Sadly, these new boots fall far short of the quality I expect from Adidas. I'll be searching for a more reliable alternative.
Amazing shoes so far. Bought for a camping music festival and put over 70 miles in these shoes in one weekend on a mix of concrete, gravel, grass and mud. A hurricane passed through and created a muddy mess of the campgrounds and venue, but my feet stayed dry the entire time. They were also cool once the sun came back out, feet never felt too hot. I normally put arch support insoles in shoes for events like this, but these shoes seemed to have enough support with the stock insole. Shoes cleaned up easy with a sponge once I got home, and cant see any significant wear/tear after 70 miles and getting stepped on numerous times.
Very comfortable with lots of cushion. Nice for reducing knee pain. Did well in CO snow and CA rain- stayed fairly warm and dry (wool socks helped). Great traction. Tread has worn well after 4 months of walking on asphalt roads and dirt trails. Only negative: tread is much wider than footbed- it’s okay if you’re on roads, snow or paths; however can get snagged if you’re on rocky trails or in narrow foot space. Also- be ready to do some pulling to get them on- nice pull-on loop straps help immensely.
