Shoe feels fine, but the sole is not as wide as Rincoln 3 and does not have any of the harder rubber that makes the sole of the shoe last. I have had every generation of the Rincon and this last one is far from Hoka’s normal quality. After about 1/8 the use, my sole is showing a great deal of wear.
First time I’ve ever written a review, but want to add the the guidance to avoid this model. Rincon wearer for 3 years after I switched from Clifton - Rincon for slightly less cushion to improve cadence. The new model runs a full size too small (I’ve worn the same size since 2016. It had far more cushion and lost all the good grip for a versatile trainer (ie not much, just what I I need for Central Park). They made a shoe for indoor walkers, not runners.
Slick outdoors, like wearing flip flops on wet garage cement. I agree with other review, this sole lacks an outer layer of firm rubber, and it has worn down quickly. Not recommended for heavy people (who wear through shoe soles faster) and not recommended for PNW wet roads.
Great looking shoe! It has terrific arch support and amazing comfort.
This is not like a Rincon 3. However, I really like the shoes, but I wasn't looking for a replacement for the 3 series. The shoe is light, comfortable, and not as chunky (big) as my Hoka Bondi 8's, which I prefer. I also didn't find them all that narrow in the toe, and I'm partial to a bigger toe box, but I did size up a half size.. Note: I don't run, I use the shoes as an everyday shoe, to the store, the gym, etc. YMMV
I usually wear Hoka Bondi - I like the wider sole while running - but I needed a pair for more casual runs/walking and the Rincons were on a sale too good to pass up. The color isn't my vibe, but the sale price was. Not sure I'd use these as my primary runners, but for the light use they're getting it was a good pickup. True to size.
I had the Rincon 3 and loved it. After it got old, I bought the new model to replace it. Everything felt off, it felt like an entirely different show. The fit wasn't even close to the previous model. I'm not sure why Hoka did this. If you're going to change everything, at least give the new model a different name!
The new Rincon 4 is nothing like the Rincon 3. We are so disappointed. Both of us found the shoe too short when we ordered our normal size. The fabric is different and looks like every other shoe.
I miss the Elf heel. This Rincon does not have it. The fit is on the tight side even on a EE shoe. Think of it as your ski boots with a firm handshake fit.
