The Arc'teryx Kopec GTX is a fantastic do-all shoe. It's got the comfort of a sneaker and required zero break in time. The toe box is generous and narrows at the mid sole while the heel tab stays out of the way insuring that the shoe fits well in all the right places. It's flexible enough for general walking yet it's rigid enough to add confidant stability when needed. Water and abrasion resistance is very good. They grip well on slippery surfaces. Lastly, the minimal design aesthetic of the shoe allows it to be paired with a variety of clothing making it a great choice for the diversity of travel experiences that await!
Are these relatively waterproof? Yes. Are they made with good quality materials? Yes. Are the comfortable? No. You will definitely have to go out and buy better insoles. And even then they won't feel quite right. Read the negative comments on these shoes carefully before buying these shoes. Unless you you just have to have the dino bird skeleton on everything you own, I'd say skip this shoe.
Hello Adam, thanks for sharing your honest thoughts on the Kopec GTX shoe. It’s great to hear the waterproofing and materials meet expectations, those are key strengths of the design. We’re sorry comfort didn’t measure up in your experience. We understand how personal fit can make all the difference in footwear, and we appreciate you pointing that out. Your feedback helps us improve, and we’re always happy to assist if you’re exploring other options that might better suit your needs.
Loving these as a hiking shoe, work horse, and casual everyday kick. The platform is incredibly stable and instills confidence in every step. The protective rubber on the toe make these feel like a boot but wear like a shoe. Probably a little too soft for carrying real weight, but I have trekking boots for those trips and don't intend on doing larger expeditions in the Kopec. I swapped out my laces with a better color and am stoked with how they style with some easy customization. I wear them loose as my street shoe, but am always impressed with how solid they feel when I lace them up for the trail. The Mid version gave me a couple of weird pressure points, but the lows feel fantastic. I've been a fan of cordura on other products and not surprised that these have been incredibly durable as a work shoe. Overall, highly recommend as a light hike shoe or a daily workhorse. High performance "S#*t Kickers"!!
Supper light and the fit is fantastic right out of the box, but the sole is far too soft for a light hiking shoe. I’m on day two of a week long day hiking trip in Crete walking a mix of asphalt, gravel and moderately rocky paths and I’m very disappointed with how I can pretty much feel every stone I step on because of the soft soles. Might work better with a stiffer, thicker insole if the volume can accommodate, but for a hiking shoe these really need a light carbon or semi rigid plastic partial shank in the forefoot or higher density foam or something similar to better protect the foot.
Hi Chris, thanks for reaching out. We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the lightweight feel and fit of the Kopec GTX Shoe. That said, we’re sorry to hear the sole did not meet your expectations. The dual-density midsole is designed to provide a balance of cushioning, long-lasting shock absorption, and support for all-day comfort. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we’ll be sure to pass your comments along to our team for future consideration. We hope this helps!
It looks like a quality pair of shoes, unfortunately the size 13 fits smaller than the size 13 in the Aerios model from last year. It's about 1/2 to a full size smaller than the Aerios. So although I'd like to keep them, I have to return them since they're too small. The inconsistency in sizing from the same brand across different models should ideally be resolved. I think the materials/construction in this shoe meant there was less available length for the foot. So the sizing should be corrected accordingly. Of course it wouldn't be that big of an issue if a larger size were available, but size I'm a size 13, and these fit like a 12/12.5 (instead of like the Aerios size 13 which is perfect), I can't wear this model.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how frustrating sizing inconsistencies can be, especially when shopping online, and we're sorry this pair didn’t meet your expectations. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we truly appreciate your honest review. We’re actively working on making the sizing experience more seamless across different models. One of the most comfortable out of the box shoes I've ever bought. The perfect companion for a trip overseas involving long days of walking and light hiking on rough terrain. Light, supportive, and with an understated design. Incredibly pleased with my purchase. Only note is that the soles are a bit slick on smooth rock, and I'm unsure how durable they'll turn out to be. Highly recommend so far.
I use this product in EMS events. I walk a lot, so the confort i find with these are just beyond my expectation. On flat roads, off road ground , wet and dry, these shoes don’t slip and they keep me warm. They are breathing much more than what i expected with the goretex technologie. No signs of rupture with averaging 15-20k step a day. Overall, very happy with it !
I think this is my 14th pair of Arc’teryx footwear and I’m very satisfied with my newest pair. I put in 4-7 miles a day hiking and my feet have the comfort and stability I need! I hope we get some boots back in the mix!
Great product. The integrated lacing system allows an ergonomic fit while preventing most branches from getting stuck in the laces. Even though i have regular feet, i can still say that the wide toe box helps. My toes have all the space they need to get the natural stability the foot is designed for. I also love the counter-heel at the back of the shoe, which i find particularly useful when going down steep and slippery landscapes. It really keeps your foot in place and will spare you a few injuries. The grip is also excellent, there is'nt much to say about it. For me, the most impressive aspect of this pair is its goretex membrane. It will keep all moisture out. Water and sweat alike . My feet dont sweat that much, but to be honest, those shoes really keep them even more dry than what im used to. Excellent breathability. The only thing i have to say is barely even a problem. I noticed that the laces tend to untie themselves, but all you have to do is a double knot. As a shoe seller i give the Kopecs a solid 5/5. I strongly recommend them to anyone who comes to me for hiking shoes.
Great shoe, length fits to size, a little snug at the ball I found, wasn't sure if I would need to go a 1/2 size larger but seems to be OK. Great grip and quite waterproof so far.
