Poor quality on this model now

Worn once and the sole that wraps around to the front/top of the shoe is already coming unglued. I have the original pair of Anacapas, got a solid three years out of those. Will be taking to an REI store for a refund or exchange.

Protruding heel is a trip hazard.

Bought these months ago and am satisfied with sizing ( 8.5 W ) . Comfortable and solid footing. The biggest drawback as I see it is the pronounced heel that protrudes too far . In Oct I hiked in the White Mts off the top ( cog RR ) . Hiking down steep slopes in large rocks I found that the heel caught and tripped as I stepped down and proceeded to move forward, causing me to pitch forward . Never had this issue with other similar shoes ( Merrill ) .

Very Comfortable

I have not yet taken these outside the house, but here is my observation concerning fit. I have a narrow, and fairly low volume foot and I normally wear a 9.5 shoe, sometimes a 10 depending on the manufacturer. I purchased a size 10 based on my old Speedgoat 6 GTXs. The length is good, however the rest of my foot was swimming inside the shoe, especially in the toe box. I had all kinds of space between my foot and the top of the shoe. I solved this by adding my custom footbed on top of the standard insert which helped to eliminate the roominess. One other observation is the mesh material between the laces and the rand at the toe develops a weird crinkle when I tighten the laces. Maybe this will iron out with time and use, maybe not. Walking around the house, the shoes seem quite comfy, but with the heavier, sturdier build, not quite as light and cushy as my old Speedgoats. All the reviews I have read rave about the comfort when hiking, especially long distances, which is what I bought them for, so I will likely keep them, although the jury is still out. Side note, the Seamoss/Oatmeal appears darker, more sage colored in the web photos than they are in reality, which is a lighter, mintier green. I would have preferred the deeper, sage color, so I may exchange them for a different color.

Comfortable and functional across use cases

I love these. I live in wet southeast alaska and I wanted a shoe that could handle the weather when I don't want to wear a boot. These are really comfy, and I love how easy they are to slip on while also being snug at the same time, I think the the heal design is awesome. I've run in these and hiked in them too. They keep out the water and I think the all brown color is a solid look for the trail and back into town. These are my new do everything shoe

I am starting to believe that REI is incompetent. I ordered a pair of these on Tuesday to be received next Monday. Late Friday (today), I receive an email that because of an "inventory error". they are not available. I could have ordered another color earlier in the week but now it shows all size 9 are out of stock when they were available earlier in the day. What are the chances. I was buying for a hiking trip next week. Guess I will have to seek out a competitor who knows what they have in stock!

Worth the time to check them out.

This shoe is a lot like the ones that are promoted for being able to slip into. Not a bad thing but I thought they were too high priced but with the foot condition and orthotics to help It that I would take a chance. Not disappointed at all.

Returning- Size

After reading reviews re: sizing for this shoe running large I downsized order from my normal 10.5 to a 10. My toes are hitting the front of this shoe so I am returning to get a 10.5. Shoe looks nice, just too small.
