Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements. Some women's pants are available in petite and tall sizes. Typically petite sizes fit women 4'11" to 5'3". Regular sizes fit women 5'4" to 5'8". Tall sizes fit women 5'9" to 5'11".
PETITE: Generally, as compared to regular sizes, petite sizes are 2.5 inches shorter in inseam, 1 inch shorter in body length, 1.25 inches shorter in sleeve length and ¾ inch shorter in total rise.
TALL: tall sizes are 3 inches longer in inseam, 2 inches longer in body length, 2.5 inches longer in sleeve length and 1.25 inches longer in total rise.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Great bibs, but not for everyone
I have mixed feelings about these bibs. On the positive side, the pants seem to be totally waterproof. I even tested them with a hose with no issues. The breathability also seems good, though I have only tested them in very cold weather so far. The pants are lightweight, well-constructed, and seem durable. After a few uses, they don’t show any signs of wear and dirt wiped off very easily. I also really like the dark orange color, the drop seat, and the zippered pocket on the front of the thigh. My biggest issue with the pants is the fit. I am 5’7” 160 lbs and ordered the medium. They are the correct length and fit through the legs, but are too tight in the waist/hips. The Gore-tex fabric has no ability to stretch, so I would not be able to comfortably ski in these. Switching to a large also wasn’t ideal because then the legs were way too baggy. This obviously will not be an issue for everyone, but it is something to consider. I wish there was a more adjustable waist to allow the pants to fit correctly on more people. Also, I knew the pants were not insulated, but I was still surprised how much cold wind I could feel through the fabric. This is really only an issue since they are so tight on me that I can’t really layer much underneath. Overall, I think I would really love these pants if they fit better, so I definitely recommend trying them on for yourself if you are in need of some nice waterproof bibs.
Solid technical bib
These are great quality bibs with excellent waterproofing. Details like leg vents, hook and loop closures, roomy knees for mobility, and taped seams make for excellent technical performance and adjustments. They have well placed pockets to hold minimal essentials which are a must for all day on the slopes. The only reason for 4/5 instead of 5/5 - not super easy to customize the waist/fit and can be a bit wonky to step into the suspenders based on the zipper placements. Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone wanting a high performance technical bib.
Amazing Bibs at Reasonable Price
First I want to note I received these amazing bibs as part of a promo. I have owned bibs from North Face, Black Diamond and Patagonia. The quality of these REI Co-Op bibs stand up to the competition in almost every way, and the bibs actually exceed the quality of the much more expensive Black Diamond bibs. I'm 5'10" with long legs and a thin, athletic build. Received the size large to wear over down pants. Works great, but a medium would be better suited if I planned to wear them over a lighter insulating layer. The high quality gore-tex fabric is soft and moves easily with me without much noise. I jumped in the shower with the bibs to make sure they will keep me dry. They did fine even with a powerful stream. The water was still beading up after ten minutes of being soaked. There still is no snow where I've spent the last month, but there will be plenty when I return to the Olympic NW this week. Was not allowed to wait to write the review, so I wore the bibs on a 15 degree night hike in 20 mile an hour wind. The First Chair Bibs get an A+ for comfort. The fabric stretches, so I had no binding in the knees climbing hills. A unique knit panel on the back should be added to all bib designs. I could sit and bend over with no sense of pulling or pinching. They're the most comfortable bibs I've ever worn. Usually I size up on bibs due to discomfort sitting. The stretch panel eliminates this issue. The boot gaiters are better made than on any of the other brands I've had, but some people may prefer a longer opening. It was perfect for my needs. A winning feature for me was the cargo pockets. The product description refers to them as side cargo pockets. They are, in fact, located on the front of the legs. I wasn't too sure about this, but it's a brilliant design. I often hike, backpack and cross country ski in heavily wooded areas. I'll be able to stow gear in the cargo pockets and not have to worry about scraping the fabric on trees and rock faces due to adding a couple inches to my width. I actually fit an ear flap hat and fingerless gloves in one pocket and did not even notice they were there. Appreciated the pulls on front and side zippers when my fingers were cold. The Sequoia Red bibs are closer to a rust color. It's a very pleasant color though. These bibs have the attention to detail I've come to appreciate in REI clothing and equipment. Little touches like the ice axes embossed on the straps patch and snaps stand out. What don't I like? I usually find something to criticize. These are just so high in quality for the price that I can't find one deficit.
Cute and keeps me dry when playing in the snow!
5'5" 220lbs (46" bust, 41" waist, 48" hips) ordered 1X. Fits great around the waist when standing, but a little tight like high waisted pants when sitting. Overall, not prohibitive of sitting or bending over. Pant length is long, but it isn't a problem with snow boots on. Not insulated, but leggings fit underneath for extra warmth. Seems like it would be restrictive (for me, in this size) to wear jeans under. Nice color and style--feeling cute! Love the back flap for going to the bathroom. Only wish the bib had a set of pockets higher up for hands (have to lean over to reach into the cargo pockets, mid thigh). Would recommend!
seat wore out after two days
My daughter and I both loved the fit, colors, and features of these pants. They were warm and waterproof, the pockets were great, the drop seat made it easy to use the bathroom (especially for my tween), and the vents without mesh made it easy to access a knee brace. However, when we actually wore them snowboarding the seat of both pairs of pants were visibly worn after only two days on the mountain! Our family has two other pairs of snowpants that went on the same trip, plus many previous mountain adventures and snowboarding falls and still look almost new. We were both disappointed to have to return the bibs to REI since they wore out so quickly and under such light use.
Good First Buy, Could Be Warmer
This is the first pair of ski bibs I've owned. I've skiid in them a several times now in varying conditions. I really enjoy the fit. I am 5'6 and weigh 135lbs and bought a size medium. I debated sizing down, but the medium gives me room for layering 3-4 pairs of pants. These bibs would be much warmer and nicer if they were insulated and not just waterproof. I wouldn't bat an eye at paying more for this pant if an update included some form of insulation and not just a light fleece lining. The construction seems really nice, I have not noticed any premature wear mid-season. The seat of the pants and other areas that take a lot of falls look brand new.
Finally bibs that fit!!
Finally a pair of bibs for thicker thighs!! I'm short with an athletic build, and I hold most of my weight in my lower half. I have tried bibs from so many brands and it seems like they're all meant for tall and skinny people. I was so shocked when these actually fit comfortably, and I love that they come in petite so they don't bunch up at my ankles. I've yet to use these outside but they're gore-tex so I don't think you can go wrong. And you can unzip them to use the bathroom without fully taking them off!! My only wish is that they had more ventilation zippers besides the ones by the hips, but that seems similar to many other bibs so I can't complain. I wear a small/medium usually and I got size small petite.
Excellent bibs for the price!
Been wanting a pair of bibs for a while and always had a hard time finding a pair that fit around my wide hips. Decided to try these and they are excellent and I'm so thrilled. I like the 'mid-bib' style, the drop seat makes it easy for bathroom breaks, and they are so comfy. They are not insulated and I prefer that - I can layer up for colder days and layer down for touring days. Biggest qualm is there are no inner leg vents, but not a huge deal! For size reference, I am about 5'4", 155-160lbs, athletic/curvy build and the M is a perfect fit to my surprise.
Nice features, but not for me...
Love the concept of the bibs, and have hankered for them for over a year. Finally got 'em on sale, super excited! But ended up returning them. Sadly, they just don't fit well. I am bummed. I am 5"6', 143, 30" waist, 32 inch inseam, big butt and thighs. The fit problem was twofold - in a medium, the butt/waist was too voluminous, though everything else was good (could not have made a small work - too little room in the thighs). This is not an aesthetic issue - don't care how bibs look. But the extra space was cumbersome and meant that movement necessitated shifting the extra fabric around. I also found the "under-boob" front height uncomfortable and weird. I thought it would be awesome, but it's just... weird and uncomfortable for me. So back they went.
Petit bibs for the win
Love these bibs and the way they fit. It’s so hard to find women’s bibs that fit, I usually resort to kids sizes but they tend to lack the features I’m looking for, mainly functional pockets. These are awesome, I love the below bust fit and pockets and the drop seat.
