returned 2 Mavaro’s for the same problem
I rode 60 miles and had problems shifting from 4th to 5th gear. The running light never came on and since all the wires are internal for a clean look the bike shop was unable to find the problem. The headlight is junk. It turned on and off randomly. The belt drive is interesting but most bike shops cannot work on it. It was advertised to weigh less than 40 lbs but actually weighed 63 pounds. The medium size was supposed to fit 5’7” which I am but I had the seat as high as it would go and still would have liked to raise the seat higher. There are no connections to add a water bottle. The control panel runs on Bluetooth to the controller and I lost connection. Do not buy this bike!
A Sturdy, Powerful, and Customizable Bike
I recently purchased two of these bikes from REI; a small for my wife and a medium for myself. While I wish REI carried the Neo 1, which includes a few of the upgrades I’ve made, I am extremely pleased with these bikes. > Build Quality and Motor Performance < This bike is built like a tank—very sturdy and quiet. The Bosch Performance Line Sport motor adds an incredible boost, making rides enjoyable and effortless. > Included Accessories < Unlike previous bikes I've owned, which required immediate accessory purchases, this bike comes with a rear rack, head/tail lights and fenders. These aren’t flimsy add-ons; they are well-built and firmly attached, saving me time and money right from the start. > Battery Convenience < The Bosch PowerTube 625 battery is a standout feature. It's easy to remove and recharges overnight, which is convenient since we don't have power in our storage area. > Custom Comfort < Due to a bad back, I upgraded my seat post to a Kinekt suspension post, which has made a huge difference in comfort. My wife, who is much smaller, finds the stock seat post perfectly fine. > Belt Drive and Kickstand < The belt drive is one of my favorite features. It keeps my pant leg clean and eliminates the hassle of oil and dirt. Additionally, the sturdy kickstand makes parking the bike hassle-free. > Suspension and Braking < The bike includes a suspension fork with a thru axle, akin to a mountain bike, which smooths out potholes remarkably well. The disc brakes, though from a less familiar brand, work exceptionally well, stopping the bike on a dime. > Initial Riding Impressions < Upgrading from a Trek XM-700 with an older Bosch system, I am amazed at the advancements. The motor provides strong assistance and the handling above 20 mph is notably better. The LED controller is conveniently placed and user-friendly, with buttons for mode control, screen display, and bike power. I haven’t taken a long trip yet, so I can’t comment on the saddle’s comfort over extended periods. > Ergonomics and Hill Assistance < The cockpit layout, handlebar bend, and seat position create a comfortable riding experience. The included grips are supportive and comfortable. Living in a hilly area, the walk-assist feature is a lifesaver. Just pressing the down button allows the bike to "walk" itself up steep hills with minimal effort from me. > Display and Shifting < While the Intuvia 100 display is great, especially in bright sunlight, I prefer color displays and upgraded mine to a Kiox 500. The five-speed hub is fantastic, and I switched to a rapid-fire thumb/finger shifter for more comfortable gear changes. > Pedals < The pedals, though basic rubber with reflectors, are perfectly sized for my feet and functional. > Additional Features < There are mounts for two water bottles on the steering stem. I only use one currently, but I’m sure I’ll find a use for the other mount. The rear rack is sturdy and hold my panniers perfectly. Upgrades: • Bosch Kiox 500 Retrofit Kit (Color Display) • Shimano Nexus SL-5S50 Internally Geared Hub Shifter - 5-Speed, Rapidfire Plus • Planet Bike Water Bottle Cage • Garmin Varia eRTL615 Rearview Radar and Tail Light • Garmin 010-13329-00 Bosch Gen 3 BES3 Compatible Cable - For eBikes - 1100 mm • Cirrus Cycles Kinekt Active Suspension System™ • Ortlieb 5.8L Fork-Packs • Ortlieb 25L Gravel-Pack Panniers Conclusion: This bike is fantastic straight from the factory, and with my custom upgrades, it’s even better. It’s a sturdy, powerful, and comfortable ride that meets all my needs and exceeds my expectations. Highly recommended! jeff
A Wonderful Bike!
Bought last fall and only have 90 miles on it now, but have enjoyed all of them thus far. Plenty of range, low step thru for city riding, nice looking, and comfortable. I added a water bottle cage and a basket to to the rear rack, so trips to the grocery store are fun. Ideal all-around bike!
