I bought this as an attachment for my Matador Beast 28L as I needed quick access to my phone. The pocket is a bit bulky for my frame (5’5”) and got in the way of my arms but if you position it high enough (low shoulder height), it stays just enough out of the way. I only wish this was more waterproof as the contents got soaked in the PNW rains.

Bulky, ok overall

Okay. Connector system is a bit odd. Can rub arms/shoulders. Bulky (extra padding), no internal organization, external pocket is a bit loose. On sale it's ok.

Amazing addition to any travel backpack

Use this exclusively for airport travel and it has been incredible. First world problems, but I always struggled with finding a clean place to put my phone/passport/cash when going through TSA and this solved a problem I honestly didn't know I could solve. Could I throw it in a main compartment of my bag? Sure. Could I throw it in a gross doggy bowl bin they provide? ...no. But now I have a safe space to store random important stuff that would normally sit in (and fall out of) my pockets. My wife didn't know I purchased (shame shame), noticed it when we got to the airport and promptly requested one as well. Now that's saying a lot!

Perfect add on for any backpack

I love this pocket! I always struggle to hold items like my phone or a small flashlight handy in front of me with a backpack. My pack has hip belt pouches but they are way too small for a phone and since I'm a small person those pockets bend around my hips and aren't very useful. This stash pocket is absolutely perfect for what I need. It easily fits all of my packs, There are slots for the sternum strap to go through which would also allow this to be placed on a hip belt if one chose. The velcro wrap around the shoulder strap holds firm and doesn't slip. The pack can easily hold my iPhone 14 pro in either the outer pocket or in the zippered pocket with room to spare. Really happy with this purchase.

can use w/o sternum strap

I got this hoping it would still function on a backpack without a sternum strap and I can report that it does! Of course if you load it up and it’s heavy, there’s a good chance it’ll slide down but with a phone and wallet it seems to stay put pretty well. I’ve tried it on my go to personal item for flying, my Sherpani backpack (pictured) without a sternum strap and my camelback hydration pack with a sternum strap and really benefit from having my essentials quick at hand on both packs.

Could be better designed

Like others I bought this to add some extra convenient storage to my Matador Beast 28 backpack, and it serves adequately for that purpose. However, it's both small and too big to be truly useful: too small to fit anything more than an average size cellphone and maybe a thin wallet or a few cards, big enough so that it feels bulky and rubs against my arm and shoulders. Even if it were just intended for phone or small camera storage, the fact that it's not waterproof in the slightest means it's not great for that purpose eitherl. Better than nothing and not entirely useless, so I'll probably keep it - but another accessory from Matador that seemed like a good idea that ended up missing the mark (see: sleep mask, TSA lock, etc.)

Good quality and decent space

I bought this because I needed something to easy access my passports while I’m traveling, of course, so I tried with 3 passports, 1 regular toothbrush, my wallet (with 7 credit cards inside) and amazingly still has some room for somethings like a tiny toothpaste or some snacks, i even put my phone in the front stretch pocket and fits very well (iPhone 14 pro max)the stash doesn’t slip down even if is full of heavy items because of the system that attach to the sternum strap. I have the artic withe one and looks goods on a full black backpack, the material is feels like waterproof but I’m not sure

Good but not perfect

I like this pouch more than any of the others I have tried, ...but the attachment system needs some help to work as I would like. The attachment to the strap wraps around the strap and has the sternum strap thread through a slot. This is fine, except that with any weight in the pouch, it will slide down the sternum strap when you take the pack off. This requires pulling the strap through, again. I made this pouch work for me by using some nylon cord to secure the pouch to the plastic piece where my sternum strap attached to the pack strap. This keeps the pouch in place.

Perfect bag additive

Wanted this for a 12-14L pack I have that doesn’t have easy pocket access (no hip pockets, hard to take on/off), knowing that I’ll want phone/snack access. Worked fantastic on its maiden voyage of a 6 hour vigorous hike. Looped sternum strap through and it doesn’t slide at all.
