Well-organized Travel Pack
I purchased this pack to use as my "personal item" and stow under the seat on the airplane. The dimensions are exactly those dictated by the airlines I fly. I ordered it online and when it arrived, I could see that it was well made with sturdy zippers and quality fabric. The answer provided on the website listing about whether the bag was expandable was wrong. The first thing I did was to unzip the expansion panel, providing another 2 inches of depth. The pack is a combo of a vertical top-opening backpack and a small horizontal duffel on the other side. The duffel compartment is perfect for packing a pair of shoes and a change of clothing and some cosmetics. There are two flat zippered pockets on the duffel top which can provide easy access to phones, wallets, tickets, and a paperback or Kindle. The backpack side has a well padded pocket that easily holds my laptop computer measuring 12 x 8-1/2 inches. Adjacent are two roomy interior pockets, and it's possible a smaller water bottle could be stowed there since there is no external water bottle pocket.
stitches coming undone
I bought this for a trip. I like the bags and the large zipper to access the big compartment, but the stitches are coming undone with only one use. I don’t think this backpack will hold for a long time.
Great travel duffel but not a backpack
I bought this about 18 months ago to use for business trips to supplement my rollaboard. The Sherpani Soleil AT I love as a commuter bag won’t hold a a set of business clothes in case the airline loses the rollaboard they forced me to check. The bag does hold quite a bit - my work electronics including laptop, phone and chargers, my “mom purse” contents plus a few extras like toothbrush and deodorant, and a set of business clothes. I have had no problem stuffing the bag underneath the seat in front of me when the bag isn’t expanded, but I don’t recommend using this as a “personal item” on Frontier, Spirit or with basic economy fares. The downside is the backpack strips. With a bag this large, I really would prefer a hip belt, which this doesn’t have. The little strap that connects the shoulder straps together (the sternum strap?) sits way to high on me, close to the base of my neck, so I never use it. I wind up carrying this using the removable shoulder strap or one of the handles the vast majority of the time. Some commenters note the lack of an external water bottle holder. I just use one of the zipped external pockets as my water bottle / snack spot. If you’re looking for a true travel backpack, keep shopping — and go to the store to test the fit. If you want a nice travel duffle, that holds a lot without being too big and has lots of organization, this might be what you need. I don’t think gender of buyer is important for this bag, in spite of the advertising, unless you’re interested in using the backpack straps. I’m a 5’ 10” 155 pound female, with most of my height in my legs. I expect that the backpack straps would fit many men even more poorly than they do me.
The straps break easily, and my bag had a stain on the inside
