In reducing weight, they eliminated the drawcords on the rim. Bad idea. When I am moving fast, like on a boat or a skidoo, the hood billows and pulls off or diverts a lot of cold air benith the jacket. In addition, I suspect that the stretch material they opted for will loose its stretch over time. Bottom line, you can't get a secure fit of the hood. Also, be sure to get a size larger if your going to wear much under this. It is a slim fit, as the information states. Overall, I woudn't buy this again. They cut too many corners to reduce weight.
This get up resembles the cult classic look from mean girls. 10/10
The design of this jacket is very well thought out. The size and cut is awesome, just the right length. The oversized hood shrinks down and fits snug on your head with a nice brim. The pit vents are perfectly placed which is awesome with the large front pocket/vents. It’s very lightweight and storable which is a bonus. It looks good, and if you read up on the tech in this jacket on the pertex website, it’s pretty cool
Very comfy lightweight jacket. Perfectly waterproof and the pockets make good vents. Used in moderate showers and as a wind breaker / shell in sub zero temperatures, no complaints. Seems to be quality and the fit / function is great. Kinda strange pit snap vents but whatever, not needed. This will be my goto for a pct through hike 2025 hopefully it holds up!
Nostalgia. I bought two down coats from M.H. decades ago. Unbelievable warmth, an outer shell that you can't destroy. AN embroidered Mountain Hardware logo. A skin you cannot puncture. I still have them. There has been nothing that even comes close. Never duplicated. How could you walk away from the great thick with down coat. JOhn
This is my dream alpine climbing jacket. The cut and fit is superb with excellent underarm lift and pockets that I can access with a harness on. The hood fits well over a helmet and the elastic trim allows the hood to move side to side with my head.
This is a barebones jacket. Poor ventilation with no pit zips!!! Yep you get pit slits…with a small little button. I overheat in this jacket all the time.
I have been in several downpours, one was for 3 hours. All dry. I was rowing my drift boat, could breath a little better. There is always a compromise.
