I used this jacket in a 4-day trek in Torres del Paine in Chile and got absolutely soaked in moderate rain. The fabric layer absorbs plenty of water and I had to get a plastic poncho instead. It was a very unpleasant experience unfortunately.
I love this jacket and use it 4-seasons, but I bought it in 2023 and today is the second time the zipper has broken. Upgrade the zipper for 5 stars comfort, packability, waterproofing.
THE most comfortable rain jacket I've had. Basically a soft shell jacket with a waterproof membrane. Build quality is top-notch, and the face fabric is soft and stretchy unlike any rain jacket I've tried. So far no durability problem after two full year of regular use. I've gone through hikes where I had to go off trail through some serious spiky bushes which I thought was gonna destroy the jacket. Checking the jacket after the hike I was unable to find any significant wear. If maintaining and properly washing the jacket one in a while, the jacket also seems to be sufficiently waterproof for most drizzles, but does seem to be more prone to wetting out than other more hardshell-like rain jackets. However, It’s worth noting that wetting out doesn’t mean leaking, and moisture level is probably already too high in pouring weather. Get this jacket if you plan on wearing it regularly as a wind-rain shell/soft shell on hikes rather than a dedicated severe weather hard shell.
Great lightweight jacket, I find the waterproofing works quite well. I've spent full days out in the rain and yes my base layer will get a bit damp underneath but as long as you're wearing wool/fleece under this jacket you'll be fine. I work outdoors in the PNW forests 4 seasons of the year and wear this jacket most days. It works great. The zipper is a bit lousy though I busted an end stop off mine and had to repair it.
I expected better from this jacket. Used it backpacking on Vancouver Island this week and it soaked through in a half hour of meaningful rain. By the time I had the tent set up all of my clothing underneath was dripping wet. Despite being listed as waterproof the material absorbs water rather than repelling it. Either this particular jacket is defective or mountain hardwear doesn’t take their reputation seriously anymore.
I really like this jacket. I use it primarily for casual everyday wear. It rolls up to next to nothing, so it fits in a bag very easily. It has one ridiculous flaw, however: it does not have a loop for hanging on a hook!! This is ridiculous.
Great stretchy light weight rain shell. The upper chest pocket is great and isn't offered by other brands at this price. Quality waterproof YKK zippers and construction. Packs down into its pocket and works great for backpacking.
The jacket is great but the sleeves are massive. I don’t understand but the motivation is for how unnaturally wide the sleeves are. If there was a different option, I would not keep this!
Excellent shell. Very stretchy, lightweight, the right fit for layering. Great windbreaker for the Greek islands during the summer, haven’t managed to get it wet just yet.
Recent purchase. First use was a 25 min walk with the dog with moderate rain. Hand pockets and chest pocket all soaked through. One plus is how small it packs down.
