One Tough Comfortable Shoe!
This is my 4th pair of these shoes. They are probably the toughest shoes I've owned. I use them daily from shovling snow to mowing the lawn. I use them for hiking, fishing for whatever the day holds. Sure the leather might have a few scars in them from different things. The first thing to wear out on mine are the Vibram soles. The rubber on the toe might separate after a few years. Mine have been submerged and dried out and just keep going. These shoes have to be one of the toughest shoes on the market. I'm a customer for life.
Excellent shoes--except for the lining
I'm deep into my second pair of Moabs. In most respects they are excellent--comfort, looks, versatility--good for day hiking, nice enough for any casual dress affair. But I am dinging them because of the linings. Even though there is plenty of tread left on the heels (the soles are hardly worn), and the uppers are still presentable, the lining at the heel is worn through to the outer layer. An otherwise good shoe, which ought to last another year, needs to be thrown away.
These are not the same AdventureMocs of years past
Unfortunately, as Alex from NY noted, these are not the same adventure Mocs of years past. I've purchased the shoes for well over a decade and they are (well were) my favorite shoe for daily wear. I'm honestly heartbroken that there's been a production change of some kind. I tried two pairs of the new Adventure Mocs and the sole on both felt very stiff and unforgiving. If you are new to Merrell, you'll have no idea how much better the previous generations were. I hope Merrell will address this issue. Really disappointed.
Handy slip-ons!
I use these constantly - just to slip on and take the dog out, or to wear out to dinner. I wear sandals much of the year, but this time of year needs the closed toe. Runs true to size or a little small. 10 bought a 10 (43) some years ago - too small. The 10.5 (44.5) fits just right with or without socks.
Great for Me
I love Merrell shoes! They fit my feet perfectly and are exactly what I expect.
Comfortable, Durable
Merrell is one of two brands, the other being Josef Seibel, that fits me perfectly out of the box. Merrell’s shoes, for me anyway, are among the best values out there, value defined as a quality-to-cost ratio. I don’t know why I’d even need to buy anything else. I live in the Front Range of the Rockies. And these shoes are great for most any kind of weather.
Excellent shoes for yardwork.
I'm only about a month in, but so far I love these shoes. I'm mainly using them for yard work. I haven't been hiking much and I'll have to decide whether I want to revert to lace-up shoes for that. These shoes feel like they can handle a trail very well. Nice arch support that I associate with Merrell. Some size 14 shoes feel a little long, even for me (6'1", 200 lbs), but these have perfect fit and balance. Highly recommend.
Great looking leather slip on in hard to find size
Nice looking wide size 15 mens shoe. I’ve read that the Moab low hiker my husband has worn for years is possibly discontinued. Very sad to hear if it’s true. He loved them, he wears a wide size 15 which is very hard to find. I do find Merrell occasionally has them which is great. These seem a nice fit and just a tad dressier. He says they fit well and seem comfortable, time will tell.
