Quality Hiking and Sport Shoe
I acquired these shoes for my 10 year old son, and they are a big hit with both me and him. The quality and structure of the shoe is excellent. They have endured with lots of active play on the playground and at the park. The bottom soles of the shoes provide great grip, which my son said helps him run fast. The shoelaces are thick and durable. The material of the shoe is perfect for hiking. They are breathable - my son says his feet don’t get hot and they don’t hurt after a long walk/hike. I love these shoes for the quality - my son loves them for the way they feel (very comfortable) and help him do his best with providing grip and flexibility.
Perfect Kids Hiking Boots
Great kids hiking boots that are prefect for any weather. These are my daughter's first pair of "real" hiking boots, and she is very excited about the high ankle support and grippy traction soles. And the yellow shoelaces are fun as well. We opted for the gender neutral color, so these can be passed down to our son when she outgrows them.
Durable Shoe for Aggressive Fun
The boot serves it's function very well. It appears to be a durable boot that can withstand aggressive play from my son. I like that he can use it on hiking trails or in the snow when it's cold. His socks did get damp after extended play in the slushy snow, but I believe this will happen with any "water proof" boot if you're stomping around in puddles. The tread is very grippy and durable. Only reason I didn't give 4-5 stars is because I think the cost is high for a kid's boot and the design/aesthetics could be better...but again, durability and functionality meet the intent of a boot!
Perfect boots? I think so!
Review from my daughter, 10 years old. Size 5. These boots fit great right out of the box. Wore them on a hike with a bunch of other girls and these boots were perfect. They had great traction, were super light, and were very comfy with plenty of padding. They were good in the mud and my feet stayed dry even after walking through small puddles. After a few weeks of wearing them, they are only showing mild stains on the mesh over the toes and still look great. I would highly recommend these boots for anyone that wants to get out and adventure without having to think about their footwear.
All around great outdoor shoe
This is a very sturdy hiking shoe. I love the ankle coverage so my son doesn’t clip his ankle with the other shoe or rocks. These work great for hiking, biking, and outdoor play. They have a sturdy sole and yet they flex well even for little feet.
Comfortable, but don't wear well and not waterproo
Our flagship store didn't have very many kids' waterproof hiking boots and these were the lightest and most comfortable for my kids. We've taken my daughter's pair on about 4-5 hikes now over the past month. They're comfortable and have pretty good grip, but they're already splitting on the edges where the upper meets the sole and they are definitely not waterproof. I'm pretty annoyed at the split, but also haven't read great reviews of other shows (the Keens we had previously were too narrow, which is weird because they run wide for adults)
Much better grip!
My kiddo appreciates the "much better grip", especially for playing in the woods. I like how light they are and the waterproofing to stay active outside longer. These fit true to size and have nice styling (the bright yellow highlights really add to a nice look.)
Great hiking boots
My daughter wore these boots around the neighborhood, in the house, and on a hike on dirt and snow. They were comfortable out of the box. They provide expected grip and stability and felt light. Her toes stayed dry after walking in the snow.
Great Shoulder Season Workhorse!
Shoes for kids are so tough, but these have been a hit! My 6.5 year old daughter is obsessed with the colorway. Best use: These have been a great "warm winter" all purpose shoe - they work for gym class and can handle light snow/slush on the playground and have saved us having to pack 2 pairs of shoes on less snowy days for school all winter. We also took them on their first serious trail test this weekend and my daughter hiked 3.5 miles on ice/slush/hard packed snow and sand. She reported that they helped her grip, but still let her have some fun sliding around. Waterproofing: She did a fair amount of puddle jumping and slush kicking on our hike and her feet were dry afterwards. Fit and comfort: These fit TTS compared to other shoe brands in our quiver. They didn't seem to require much of a break-in period and have worked well out of the gate. The higher shaft may take some kids some time to get used to. My daughter got a hot spot on her Achilles when she wore thin cotton socks, but had no issues when we switched to her thicker wool socks, which is probably best for hiking anyway. The bottom line: I wouldn't recommend these as the only shoe for your kid, but they are a great mid-boot if you are spending lots of time outside in the shoulder seasons!
Really Solid Boot
Daughter loves the color and styling. The boots have done a great job of protecting her ankles and keeping her dry - I much prefer putting her in these as opposed to rain boots. I worry that the bottoms are a bit stiff, but they have loosened up some since she initially started wearing them. They also seem pretty bomber, hopeful they will hold up for hand-me-downs.
