too see-through, changed neckline, versus 2023 version
I love my 2023 Sphere II Cool-lite t-shirts in light blue, but this one is way too see-through! Even indoors in normal light, the outline of my belly button, my sports bra (which matches my skin color) and straps, and the top of my shorts all show through clearly. Don't want to imagine a photo from a sunny day outside. They also made the neckline less flattering and versatile (IMO) by eliminating the slight scoop of last year's -- the scoop made it usable under a casual jacket for business casual or dinner with friends, in addition to hiking. Returning this one and keeping it in navy (despite the neckline) though I really wanted a happier color and the slight scoop neck.
Nasty obnoxious tag
Other companies figured out the obvious - get rid of nasty plastic tags or make them easy to remove completely. Icebreaker is going the opposite way - make the tag on this shirt as bulky as possible. Make the tag impossible to remove - it is sewn in so that removing it destroys the seam.
A great all-season travel shirt
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have worn this shirt in black for trips to Iceland, Patagonia and Greece when packing light was important. It is very lightweight, takes up almost no room in a suitcase, and doesn't wrinkle much. Also dries quickly if you need to rinse it out. I sized up from small to medium because I like the looser fit for warm weather, and also as a top for a skirt or casual pants. But is it true to size. I bought it on sale in this color for an upcoming trip to Africa. You can wear it (even sized up) as a base layer in colder weather. Surprisingly warm for its weight when you need it, and not too warm for weather in the mid- to upper-70s. I wore leggings made of the same fabric and they were perfect base layer for long hikes in Patagonia or anywhere that you are going to start cold and warm up a lot due to activity.
Light long sleeve top
I have wanted a long sleeved shirt that was still light enough to wear playing pickleball. This seems to work fine.
Fragile material
I have only worn this three times since I got it, and it has a hole on the front already. It didn't even get punctured, it just ripped. I wanted to wear this on a long hike but have to look for something else now. This is the second top I got from Icebreaker, the first one did the same thing. It's too bad because I like the fit on both shirts, but expected them to last longer. I am not buying merino wool shirts anymore.
Sunstone is very see through
I love the color and the fabric is silky and the fit is great. However, the photo on line is MISLEADING. My skin is about the same as the model, and the fabric was so thin I could see every detail of my bra and my bellybutton through it. I do not know what to do, because if I layer over it for modesty I will not see the color I love. I may have to send it back.
Nice lightweight long-sleeved T
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this primarily for travel. It fits me well and is lightweight. It's supposed to be a blue heather, and close inspection shows that it is, but from a distance it looks more like a black heather. With that said, I like the color. It is just a little bit itchy for me, but I hope that will improve with more washes.
I wear my icebreaker basic t shirts for every occasion..
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since I travel extensively, I find it very easy to pack a few black icebreaker T shirts and long sleeve T shirts so that I can layer for different weather conditions. If I pack these, I never have to check luggage as I just wash them by hand and they are dry and ready to wear the next day.
Very soft and comfortable fit
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the Cool-lite blend. So far, I have worn this shirt on a long hike and while walking outside in the sun. It is very comfortable and keeps me cool. I was in the sun for many hours without sunburn or feeling overheated. Washes and hangs to dry nicely. I wish there were more colors.
Neck line too high, ouch
The yellow Lux color is bright and pretty but what is with the new high neckline on all of this seasons IB shirts? It is uncomfortable and irritating. I had to return. I also think this version of the Sphere runs slightly smaller (shorter and tighter) than the previous version.
