Good but could use some tweaks

I am a recreational ultra runner, so far I only took these on a 5 mile trial run so these are initial impressions. I have wide yogi feet, for road running shoes I usually get brooks or Hoka and for trail running I wear Altra. Pros on this shoe: very lightweight, springy soles that are not too squishy so they still feel stable. I think the padding will be nice on my feet on long runs. Tread feels better than I expected but I haven't tried it on wet pavement yet. The big downside to this shoe is that the heel doesn't feel structured/grippy enough, so it's a potential hotspot for longer runs. I don't have skinny ankles or a narrow heel so this isn't usually a problem for me. I'm going to get some heel grip inserts to help this. I think if I were going to buy a road running shoe in this price range again I'd probably just get Hokas. But overall not a bad shoe! And if you want them for a job where you're on your feet all day I think they'd be perfect.

Original Cloudmonsters are better.

I’ve had two pairs of the original cloudmonster shoes, and will die in the hill that they are the most comfortable sneakers available, but two issues I had were the heel cushioning was thin and the shoe laces were always coming undone. The cloudmonster 2 addresses the heel support and have better laces but run large and don’t fit the shape of my foot well. It took me two tries to get the right size shoe. I have a narrow foot and these never seem to fit right regardless of what socks I’m wearing, how tight I tie them, etc. and hurt my feet after a mile of walking. Will be returning.

Maybe I got a dud? Not the shoe for me.

I run 30-40 miles per week on concrete and dirt trails. Wore my first Cloudmonster until holes developed and the heel support slid down to an uncomfortable spot in the shoe. Loved them!! I have messy feet…Morton’s Neuroma and Plantar Fasciitis…so fit is super important. Cloudmonster 2 is noticeably different from the original. They make my feet hurt immediately. I agree with the fit comments from others. The cushion is not the same, they make my feet numb (even though I have plenty of room in the toe box) and they sound like I am walking in crunchy snow all the time (classic On Cloud issue). I had high hopes for this shoe but it turned out to be a dud for me sadly. I was so hopeful that my issues would resolve after breaking them in but these are definitely a waste of my $$.

INCONSISTENTE SIZING.

My first pair of CloudMonster were AMAZING. I had ordered TWO more pairs - one at REÍ and another at a diff store. Both pairs have been AWFUL!!! So so disappointing. Hard to believe that both my second and third pairs fit so differently. Was hoping to have found my forever shoe and brand. Will not be buying again as the brand is too inconsistent in their quality.

They’re very comfy, but don’t last long

I bought mine specifically for a walking, and I used it for maybe three months and noticed that the bottom grip started falling off. For the price point, they should last me longer than four months without falling apart.

Love but want more…

I love the fit and comfort of these shoes. However, I walk about 60 miles a week and these shoes cannot keep up. I am replacing almost every 8-10 weeks as the tread i# almost gone at that point.

Cushy

I use Hoka Bondi normally but these feel just as supportive with less of “clown shoe” bulk.

Amazing once you figure out the sizing.

These shoes are great! My introduction to On Cloud was the CloudUltra 2, which were OK. I decided I wanted more cushion for everyday running and decided to give these a go. The height felt interesting at first, but I quickly adjusted and I'm in love. Just be mindful of sizing, as these run on the roomier side. In the CloudUltras, my usual size 9 was rather tight. In the CloudMonsters, I was swimming in size 9. I switched to an 8.5 and they're so perfect that I ordered a second pair in white for the summer. Highly recommend!

would buy again

I have narrow-to-average width feet, slightly high arches, and I suffer with plantar fasciitis all the time. Just wore these daily on a four week trip across Australia. Averaged 20k steps a day. These held up the whole way and were perfect for hiking, walking, waiting in airport lines, and everything in between. Not a single blister or ache—my feet weren’t even remotely fatigued. I would buy these in every color if I could.
