I love the fit of this shoe. They are the most comfortable trail runners I have ever owned. The first pair I owned were/are fantastic. I still wear them as there is still quite a bit of tread. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because my second pair is already starting to come apart at the toe after two uses. I had to put new insoles in too because the original ones started to deform in the shoe causing a bit more friction than I would like. No one likes blisters.
I organize a monthly hike in LA (part of Sawtelle Run Club) - every time we hike I end up running and didn't have proper shoes until this pair. I followed the recommendations of sizing up so normally wear a 6 Womens and purchased a 6.5 - the fit was perfect! So happy with my purchase
In the pictures for the color black/phantom there is no writing on the top flap. When I received them in the mail I was extremely disappointed seeing huge lettering “speed cross 6” written across the whole top of the shoes in light tan coloring
I've been trail running with Salomon for decades. I thought of changing it up and switching to Hoka's and I lasted all of three runs with those, went online and bought another pair of Salomon. Just can't beat Salomon I guess. Don't waste your money and try another show, you'll just go back to Salomon. New England weather is no joke, and these shoes hold their own. One day mud, and the next day snow. My feet stay warm with the gore-tex.
First time I purchase Gore-Tex shoes, and I was worried at first about the snug fit I wasn't aware Gore Tex shoes had. I went on a walk first with the shoes and no problems since then but if you do long runs, perhaps size up just half a size if you can't try them on before (take my advice with a grain of salt). The shoes have been AMAZING on snowy days running on the trails and now that everything is melting and it's super muddy. The shoes obviously do stain as soon as you get some mud on it but not as bad as what I thought. I love the color and the fit/feel is great as soon as you are on soft ground. Really recommend. Hard to speak on the durability but most of my Salomon shoes last for years, so I expect these to be the same as long as runs are not done on paved streets (your body will most likely give up before your shoes if you do that with the Speedcross anyways!)
Gave my new hiking shoes their first trial run at Beacon Rock. Great grips. My only concern is when I approached a wet wooden bridge, I slipped. They performed well on all other surfaces.
I have always loved Salomon shoes, I never have to break them in, they work well and hold up. The only reason I’m leaving a 4 star review instead of 5 is because of the heel drop being so high, which doesn’t work for me. I developed severe foot pain, overuse tendonitis, and a ganglion cyst. X-rays revealed my first metatarsal bones are too short, causing forward lean and weight to pressure the outer toes, collapsed arches, shin splints, etc. This is not caused by the shoe, just my shape, however the high heel drop doesn’t work for my structure so I need to return these, and I really don’t want to. If you don’t have these type of foot problems, these shoes are probably going to work so amazing for you and I wish we could trade places. Here’s to hoping Salomon starts creating zero heel drop trail runners like these because I would buy them in a heartbeat.
This is my 7th pair, same shoe, I stick with what works, first time complaint... the fabric used this time is different, a serious problem for me especially with the lighter color, running in trails the dirt and sand is absorbed into the fabric and doesn't come out so your left with very dirty looking shoes unless you wash daily...

My Favourite hiking boots, my 10th+ pair, been buying these forever... And, since I am from Canada, living in Mexico, I have paid exchange rate and then customs and taxes to get them to me, all well worth it... until this pair. The laces (which are usually so great, with the toggle for tightening), cover started to peel and now I can't cinch them up to wear them... I have to keep the laces at the same place and squish my foot into them through the smaller opening. I still wear them, but they are not as comfy nor can I manage to make them tight enough to feel confident on trails. I will buy another pair soon as these are my go-to's, but will wait until I am back in Canada, to reduce the cost a bit...
Hello Heidi! We apologize in advance for the inconvenience caused. We appreciate you taking the time to share your picture. A member of our team will contact you shortly to discuss your experience.
I’ve been a huge fan of Solomon, and the Speedcross shoe for quite some time. I’ve had about 10 pairs over the years. I have absolutely loved them… until now. This is the first time I’ve stepped up to the gore tex model. I’m not sure if it is the gore tex or across-the-board changes made in the Speedcross line when moving from the model 5 to the 6, but this is my first disappointment with Solomon. The shoe is much “clunkier” than previous versions, and seems to feel almost more like a lite hiker than the slipper like feel of my previous Speedcross shoes. I’m still a fan of Solomon and will try again, but this one is a disappointment for me.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are very sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with this model. Adding the Gore-Tex membrane will change the shoe slightly, but not majorly. If you wish to discuss this further, we would be happy to.
