Weak cleat treading.
The screw treading under this shoe seems weak, it was wrung out before I could even tighten it. Tightened it as much as I could but the cleat eventually came loose and fell out on the first ride.
Great for the more casual rider, comfortable.
Comfortable, easy to clean, walkable, good platform in a semi flexible sole. Like the shoe laces holder that keeps my laces out of the chain rings, took a few days to realize that is what the little tab in the fore shoe is for..... I have found these to be my go to shoes for longer rides, as the slightly softer sole makes for a little more comfort on longer rides. Always use for bike camping trips, as they are so walkable, in comparison to my Carbon sole MTB race shoes...
Best kept secret in gravel shoes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 3rd adidas gravel boots and 2nd in this colour. This is the upgraded version I just received and have not ridden which is why I’m just giving it 4 stars. But, it’s worthy of 5. The upgrade made the boot sole stiffer ✔️, a more structured and breathable top ✔️, a new sock liner that doesn’t droop and holds its shape ✔️, a shape to be admired ✔️. This is the best kept secret in gravel cycling shoes. One major concern: the cleat plates can’t be replaced.
Disappointing
I bought these on sale a few days ago. The discount was so much that I figured I had to give them a shot. They were on sale for $60 (normally $200). I liked the sound of "adventure-ready outsoles" and "easy walking off the bike". I do a lot of bike packing/camping and the idea of a clip-less shoe I can use for some hiking and walking seemed great. I walked around the neighborhood and my home with them for a few hours one day and did ~15 miles of riding with them another day. I find that the way the outsoles/textured area on the soles are designed is problematic. The asymmetrical nature of the area by the heel, specifically, was unstable for me when off the bike. Maybe it's just how I walk, but I had dozens of incidents where I felt my ankle was going to roll. The textured surface is inconsistent and not even and so if my heel landed a certain way the whole shoe would kind of suddenly give way and so my ankle would too. On the bike I had some problems I would categorize as dangerous. For some reason I can't quite explain these shoes are very unforgiving if I use even moderate pressure to clip in and I "miss". On my Giro Vibram Rumble shoes if I miss a clip when coming off a dead stop it's no big deal. I just keep pedaling while not clipped in and eventually my foot finds the right spot. The shoe grips the pedal well enough that it's not an issue. Not the case with these Adidas. On these Adidas I found the exact opposite to be true. I think it's something to do with how the textured surface is, or how it's shaped. This was a real issue for me on the streets when I got a green light off a stop. If I was very cautious, light, and careful, I could clip in without issue. If I wasn't paying attention and applied a little extra pressure and didn't manage to clip in properly my shoe and foot would shoot off the pedal as if they were greased. I was losing balance on streets with traffic near me and had to be incredibly careful about how I clipped in. I also found my feet slipping if I just wore these as normal shoes (no cleats) on platform pedals. I have some stock Kona platform pedals and the soles on these Adidas shoes never made good contact. Something with those textured soles wouldn't make a good connection, and a foot occasionally went flying off to the side while riding. I have some Shimano flip-flop clipless + platform pedals and the flats on those platforms worked OK with these Adidas. The fact that these didn't work with my other platform pedals was really disappointing. In theory, I really like these shoes. When I'm clipped in I find them comfy and think they're kinda cool/unique looking. In reality, the danger I perceived from these makes me never want to wear them again and I plan on returning mine.
Added BLUE’s for fun
I have a pair of black ones, just hitting 2 years now, was excited to grab the blues, as I like a little color! Great shoe, have used on two different bike packing trips, multi day, just these and flip flops. They preform great, and walkable too, raced them on dry cyclocross days and for Cascade and Gorge Gravel race. As they flex a little more than my carbon soled race shoes
Perfect for my needs
I like these because I can use the same shoe on my mountain bike and my commuter. The sewn-in bootie keeps wet and mud from getting inside my shoe. They’re not as bad to walk/run in as some other shoes I’ve used. The use of laces rather than the BOA system is a plus in my book, when I’m riding I never notice any unwanted movement.
Looks and feels amazing, but it’s a narrow fit
Excellent quality and looks fab but because of the narrow fit, it just felt a touch too snug for my liking. The recommendation was to order the usual size but I’d say order half a size up at least for a more comfortable fit. Unfortunately had to return but may order the half size up when back in stock
Disappointed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good quality, but sizing is way off. I normally wear a 41, so I ordered a 42 to be safe—but surprisingly, it fits more like a 40 or even smaller. Super strange sizing from Adidas. Quality-wise, no complaints, but the fit is a letdown. Not satisfied.
Best cycling shoe ever
I got three of those shoes already. Two from first generation, black and pink. Now this second version is much better. Used mainly for road trips.
I like the ankle gasket and the pull on loops
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the ankle gasket a lot which keeps out the little rocks. Getting gravel inside the shoe is a real problem.
