Cute, comfortable, functional
These pants are great! Material is thicker, sturdy,(mostly organic cotton) but still soft with enough stretch. Warm enough for cool weather hikes. Dirt and dog fur wipes off easily. Very comfortable!!! The front waistband is a bit lower than the back. Feels great on my stomach and gives full back coverage even when squatting down. They look nice and have lots of functional pockets. Length and tapering at the ankles is perfect. I am 5'3 127 lbs and the small fits perfectly. Usually my hiking pants come off as soon as I get home, these I kept on all day. I highly recommend
Love the front pockets
I really like the big front pockets. I can carry my phone and sunglasses in one of the front pockets. While hiking thru brush and climbing over downed trees, I didn't have to worry about sitting on my phone (when it is in a back pocket) or the phone snagging in a side pocket. I like the 2 inch elastic waist. It doesn't pinch. Unfortunately I have a long torso, so the waist hits about 2 inches below my belly button, just like any average sized pant does on me. Having the option of a "tall" or "short" waist would be better. I have a 41 inch waist so I got the size 8. The pants fit me a little snug, but stretch. If my thighs were bigger than the seam that is under the front pocket would bind. If I could have tried multiple sizes on, I may have gone up a size. I like that they have two length options. I received the 30 inch and the hem hits where it should, esp for ankle boots. There is a little pocket on the front right side that is perfect to put small things in it like lip balm. The big pockets have two velcro fasteners that work really well. I I have hiked in them three times already. Just a tiny bit of stretching happened to mold to me. I washed them once and hung them to dry. You can dry them on low, but I usually hang my hiking pants. The material is strong and resists tearing. I wore them in 45-70 degree weather. My legs were a little sweaty at the 70 degrees in the sun hiking. I wouldn't wear them in the heat of the summer, but they are very comfortable in cool weather and should work well in freezing weather. You could put a base layer underneath easily. If I could have given them a 4.5 stars, I would. I received these pants in exchange for an honest review.
Expandable tough pants for activity
I liked the fit of the pants when I put them on - they were fitted but not too snug. The longer I wore the pants the more they seemed to expand to accommodate my movements. That is, there are gussets and expansion joints in the knees and hips which made them very comfortable to move in, squat, bend, etc. I used them to work in the yard and kept them on to hang around in because they are very easy to wear. I would suggest wearing a shirt you can tuck in because the waistband elastic is not comfortable against the skin (although the room for expansion is great). The fabric is substantial without being bulky and there are loads of pockets, some expandable, so the pants are great for hiking and activities where you may need lots of stuff (which for me is all the time). The size 6 fit well - I am 5'4" 128 lbs.
Well-constructed for durability, but run big
I liked these workwear pants because they looked like conventional cargo joggers and were a distinct olive green. They are definitely built for people who do physical work, like in a machine shop or a landscape task. The Cordura material is stiffer, densely woven, slightly shiny and the seams seem exceptionally strong. The elastic waist has enough bunching length to stretch for larger waists. There are lots of other details. The hand pockets are deep enough to quickly put in a phone, etc., and the small pockets are also very functional. The other pockets have hoop and loop (Velcro) closures that are really noisy to unfasten, thus limiting their use in quieter social situations. I would prefer zippers, which are I think are equally secure as Velcro.... The pants run big. I am 5'4", 110 lbs,--generally a slight, boyish build. I usually wear a size 4 petite, and ordered a size 4, 30" inseam. I washed and dried them under normal settings in the washer and dryer. From the start they were baggy but acceptable until I emptied a crowded closet for later sorting, then walked 5 miles. They stretched so that I would have needed a belt for continued use. I never did have to unbutton them to pull the pants down. The legs were long, but okay. So, generally they are comfortable but run big.
workhorse pants
The fabric is durable. I used them for cutting down shrubs and working in thickets. Better flexibility than duck canvas work pants. Love the flex at the knee when bending. Tons of pockets to load small hand held tools. Very comfortable to hike in and even rode my horse in the pants. Would get 5 stars but they run big. I fit the size 2 per measurement guide. Legs are roomy if you need to layer for colder temps.
Order your usual size
They seem like good pants, but don't believe the size chart. Order your usual size. I ordered a 14, need an 18.
