Excellent jacket
Excellent design. Very warm. My daughter loves it. Well made and warm! Really warm!! Highly recommend. Pickets are great. Great name plate on the inside. If your like me you hate it when your child tells you they have lost their jacket! Easy spot to place your name and contact information. And most importantly the label is on the inside. You don’t have to worry about a stranger calling your child’s name because the read it on the back of the jacket.
We love this coat
We love these coats! Several family members have them. They are light weight and can stuff into an inside pocket for easy packing. We have taken these backpacking, wear these during casual outdoor activities, Christmas tree hunting, camping, almost all the time. They are warm for cold days and on colder days we wear hoodies underneath (when it is below freezing).
Kids coat
Great kids coat. Size is perfect, material is durable yet movable. Arm sleeves have hidden elastic which provides a modern style but closes tight enough to keep the weather out. Very high quality zippers!
Light yet warm
My daughter really likes this jacket. She says that it is very light, yet warm. She also likes how the material feels. We haven't had any truly cold weather yet, I imagine that it won't be warm enough for extended time outiside in very cold temps. We also loved the color of this coat. Overall it is very high quality and perfect for late fall in Minnesota!
Perfect Down Jacket for Everyday Adventures
This was the jacket my daughter wanted. This was her first "puff" jacket and she loves it. It isn't to cumbersome but still very warm. The first outing in it was walking through a Christmas lights display at our local zoo, it was mildly breezy, and cold but she was toasty warm. REI did a great job with design as well. Sometimes down jackets can look boxy, but this jacket fits well and has good lines.
Unbelievably thin insulation
There is essentially zero down insulation in this jacket. Do not trust the pictures. If you lay it flat on a table, it has no discernable loft. Less than 1/4 inch. With 3 kids who love to ski, I've purchased numerous down jackets over the years. This has far less down than any other brand I've purchased. I have a 7+ year old down jacket that has passed through three children and it still has more loft than this jacket. To be fair, this is the trend among many down jackets in recent years. But REI has taken it to a new low.
Great fit and very easy to wash
So glad I bought this for my son a month ago! The sizing is accurate and yes to REI for durable clothing. He’s worn it on many adventures already, hiking, golfing, airplanes, running around at the park and playground. It’s withstood early morning at Haleakala, think 40-60F temps just fine. I’ve had to wash it quite a few times. Some materials do cling and the black makes them visible but that’s hardly something to complain about. A vest or waterproof shell seems comfortable as well. No issues with the jacket or zippers and the pockets are great. For future enhancements, a zippered pocket inside would be nice for kids to store small treasures but other than that, no negatives for a great purchase.
Light and warm
Nice lightweight down jacket. Seems to run a bit large, but for kids apparel I don’t mind that. The color is a dusty pink which got my picky daughter’s approval. It’s thin, but warm and since it runs big there is room for layering underneath. We haven’t used it while it is actively snowing and probably wouldn’t but it’s a solid mid layer for us that will likely see a lot of wear this winter.
Good quality jacket at a great price
This jacket is a good quality at a good price. The shell seems sturdier than pricier brands so I worry less about my kiddo getting a hole. The fill is adequate for NC winters but would be lacking in colder climates. I bought at medium for my 11 yo average sized daughter and I’m hopeful that it will fit her for two winters.
Down filled kids jacket
Thinest, non-filled jacket I’ve seen.
