Slow leak...

I took the kayak out of the box inflated it, noted a wrinkle that was where one of the Boston valves was seated. After fully inflating it I could hear air leaking out around the Boston valve. I deflated it, tightened everything, reinflated it and there was still a slow leak. I tried this multiple times. Overnight that side of the kayak deflated to about half full of air. A slow leak, but why should I keep it? I'm putting it back in the box and shipping it back.

Great Kayak, highly recommend!!!

We bought this for a trip to Lake George, NY We wanted a two person kayak, that was sturdy and could handle two larger people. Very easy to inflate and I was shocked how well it held us, close to 475lbs people and gear. No doubt it can hold the maximum 550lb capacity. Very comfortable seats made for a great day of paddling. The seats stay very secure with the Velcro and clips. Took several solo trips as well. Handled the waves on Lake George just fine and was an extremely dry ride. Easy to get in and out of. Tracked great while paddling both single and tandem. Folding back up for storage was a breeze. The only improvement, and certainly not a deal breaker, was I wish they'd have installed normal "Boston" type valves. You have to use an adapter (included) to use the inflator. We had it inflated for 5 days and it never lost any air. Again, very impressed and would certainly recommend to other.

Not a great Kayak

Looked great, had hard time inflating, could have come with the standard valves, one of the seats came out torn withing few mins of use, there is no replacement for the seat so it is going back to REI, the bag and it design must be reconsidered.

Not a good experience

The seat got ripped within few mins inside the boat, the valves must be changed to the standard valves, took few few times to get the air pumped, after pumping getting the pump nozzle will result in air leak, the bag supplied is of low quality.

It's light. That's the only plus for this kayak

This kayak is light, so I guess it gets one star. Otherwise, we really did not like it and returned it. It is very difficult to pump up to the correct pressure because even though it comes with a pump that has a pressure gauge, the valves don't allow air to go back to the pump to the pump pressure gauge always shows 0. Pumping up the floor is the most difficult because the material is so thin that over-inflating may cause it to blister or pop, but of course under-inflating causes the bottom to sag. Generally the whole boat feels flimsy, and I just don't trust it on the water. Even properly inflated it is slow and difficult to maneuver. We already had an AquaGlide Deschutes, and it is a fantastic boat. Just in a totally different league. So we returned the Chinook and bought a second Deschutes. It was definitely worth the additional $150.
