Great Pear Shaped Carabiner for Anchor Building

Like most other carabiners this does its job well. Due to it Pear shape I use two of these as the rope baring end of my anchor, and they work well allowing the rope to slide with less friction than a traditional V-shaped carabiner. Screwlock works as intended, though it would be nice if there was a color indicator to tell wether the gate is locked or not.

One Worked, One Broke Instantly

I ordered a pair of these and was initially impressed—they feel substantial, well-made, and have a nice weight to them. Unfortunately, the hinge mechanism includes a small piece of plastic that appears prone to failure. One of the carabiners broke immediately upon testing: a tiny piece of black plastic shot out of the hinge, and it lost its automatic spring closure. It now has a clicky, unreliable feel. Inspecting the second one, I can see the same plastic component and am surprised that such a critical part was made from a fragile material. It’s disappointing, especially because the other carabiner still functions perfectly and closes with a satisfying snap. I’ll be returning both. I genuinely wanted to like these, but the design flaw overshadows the otherwise great build quality.

The best for anchors and belaying with an ATC. I stand by these.
