Works but …

The purpose is to block out light. It does that … well. But it is difficult to adjust the strap. I got it far enuf that I could tolerate it and gave up. It keeps out light but the difficulty adjusting it for comfort downgrades it.

Possibly the worst STS product ever.

Sea to Summit Eye Shades: After using maybe a dozen times, the rubbery ink they use on the head strap turns to a STICKY GOO, presumably from contact with skin oils, or maybe just an unstable compound. Either way, it sticks to your skin, pulls your hair, and it's almost impossible to remove from the strap. Seems like an endless supply keeps oozing out. Any solvent strong enough to remove the "ink" would most certainly dissolve the strap elastic. AND, despite being reasonably comfortable new, they're really kinda small, and don't really bridge over the nose well, leaving a large light gap most of the time. I own LOTS of great STS gear; what a disappointment.

Not Comfortable

I really don’t like writing bad reviews but this eye mask is not comfortable, nor does it block light well. The strap pulls so it’s pressing on my eyes, which pulls up the edges letting in light. If I loosen so it doesn’t do that then it doesn’t stay in place. In short: it does perfectly everything you don’t want it to do. I’m returning this and went to the Eagle Creek site and bought four of their Sandman masks. Those are great and what REI used to sell for half the price of this unusable one.

if I could give this zero stars I would

The good: it blocks most of the light The bad: it doesn’t block out all the light… the mask doesn’t have enough surface area or contours so light sneaks in. Additionally, there’s a hard plastic piece on the right side, so if you want to rest your head on your cheek, it digs into your face. I’d expect a little more intelligent design than that for something sold at rei, but maybe their product quality control is lax.

Why did they shrink the original

I've been using this brand eye shade for years. I bought a new one about 2 months ago. It is garbage. Why did they ruin the original? You did not improve the product but made it worse. Gotta find a new brand now.

Not good for side sleepers

Hard plastic clip on the side of the head makes it hard to get comfortable when lying down on your side. Unfortunately going to have to return. Otherwise I like it

Alaska, Iceland, Airplanes...Anywhere

I originally got one of these in Alaska to help me sleep through the summer sun at night. They fit very comfortably, unlike others I've tried that apply too much pressure trying to block out the light. I've used this eye mask on many trips. And I've also used it closer to home for lunch-naps in the car and falling asleep while my partner has the light on. I highly recommend this eye mask. Comfortable, breathable and easy to sleep in. Buying another one right now because my gf "borrowed" mine.

Sea to Summit - give me something better!

I meditate every day, and my current eye mask is wearing down. This was an impulse buy, as I needed another unrelated product. I have a narrow face, but this is too small even for me (I usually say things are too large for my face). Yes, it keeps everything dark, but it still causes pressure on my eyes when using. I've loved every Sea to Summit product prior to this, too.

A better night's sleep

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used sleep masks for years, both at home and when camping or backpacking, and this is the best I've tried for fit and durability. It blocks out light so effectively that I've forgotten to turn off my light when going to bed, the durable stitching will make it last much, much longer than other eye masks, and the absence of velcro ensures that it doesn't stick to fabrics.

Way too small and let’s in light

The size is so small that I had to extend the strap all the way for it to fit my averages size adult head. It Lightweight qcovers my eyes and I feel like it’s squeezing against my eyes due to its small size. It also bows out at the top letting in light, defeating its purpose. Maybe it will fit small adult heads and kids, but not average and definitely not large heads.
